Shinko 705 front tire on a 08 v

I am looking at buying a set of shink 705 tires 150/70/17 rear. My question is concerning the front can I run a rear tire up front like a 130/80/17 I like the look of the bigger tire up front

Yes, but you'll need to raise the front fender. Here's my '08 w a 130/80 x 17 front.

Awesome that is exactly what I wanted to hear it am actually going with shinko 805 instead but same size front and rear. How did you raise the finder just use some flat steel and make a adapter?

I raised my front fender quite a bit LESS than you did - 1.375", and looking at yours I THINK you might get contact between your fender and the 'hard-stuff' above IF (when) you bottom your forks. Here's a link to a thread I started on raising the front fender.

would there be a problem if i ran a shnko 130/80 x 17 up front with a tourance on the rear? i can't take the "whine" of the front tourance anymore.

Absolutely but the 705's are not a silent road tire

Front tires normally have very a different cross sectional profile than a rear tire. They have an evenly rounded tread area to provide consistent feel and contact patch in a turn regardless of lean angle and a smooth turn in. As such I am wondering what kind of steering response you would get from the much flatter profile of the 130 rear on the front. Seems it would contribute to great braking when the bike is standing up but poor turning, especially on pavement. IE - from the picture the contact patch when vertical appears huge but then drops off to nothing as the bike leans.

Not sure about the 705 but most Shinko tires now come in stock sizes to fit the Versys now including 120/70-17 front. In a pinch you can use a 150/70-17 in place of the OEM 160/60-17 on the rear without issue.

The 130 is labeled as a front or rear tire. I have found no downfall to turning than the feel of the front end. It is still very nimble.

It's in the Radial section of their website
Shinko Radial E705

120/70R17 front and 150/70R17 rear are available.
