Silver to, errr...Titanium

Picked up my 2017 Versys after selling my FJ 09. Very Happy so far.

The obvious, the V is down on power. But with that out of the way, the little twin is sweet. Of course, what will follow is subjective, but I think I'm keeping it fair.

I put about 120 miles on it today, after checking out tire pressure, various bolts, and giving it the personal once over.

Staying under 4K rpm is not only a tease, but impossible at anything above 65mph.

While they have similar seat heights, the V feels more like sitting in the bike, rather than on, again obvious, but... The FJ 09 while considered a sport tourer, leans much more to the sport of that equation, but has better peg placement.

Brakes were little soft at first but once used to the feel, very progressive, but I liked the FJs better over initial bite. Suspension on the V was well sorted from the factory and better all around.

Bike turn ins and mid-corner adjustments is effortless. It's amazing how well it tracks and easy to ride.

Checking over the dealers assembly, and in general observation between the 2, the V has better fit of panels, nicer stock blinkers, windscreen etc. It feels and looks like it is a better build. The factory hard cases are much more solid on the V, than the FJ's, as are the hand guards for actually deflecting wind.

Lot's of small details that do matter to me and I could go on. I'm impressed overall.

Give it some better tires as soon as possible, and consider adding crash bars before it's too late.

Glad you're enjoying your new LT. Try the footpeg lowering-blocks from "motowerk".

So glad to read this post, I just spent the last few days trying to decide on either the FJ09 or the Versys 650. I liked both bikes but the Versys just felt better.

Both bikes OEM tires are the Dunlop Sportmax, which I'm very comfortable with. The FJ09 with the 180 rear, vs the 160. Already got those scrubbed to the edge.

Turk, it's the good decision if you are looking for a better "all around" bike ready to put on the miles. IMO.

Thanks fasteddie I'll check those out. I was looking at the Puig, which seem just a smidge less in length also. Might make for a sweet combo.

I wish my 2016 Versys 1000 had a Titanium Tank. I hate black bikes along with having a black tank. But at least with the Titanium fairings it looks okay...

I almost bought a black one. Glad I didn't as I think the titanium looks great.

Just went back and looked in my intro post and saw your bike. Those fairings look great! I didn't notice the black tank at first.
