My Versys HURT me yesterday!

Geez, this is embarassing! I was moving the bike to clean the garage when my little dog got under my feet. Next thing I know I'm tipping over and can't save it. The bike fell on my foot and naturally I screamed! Not in pain so much as for the bike! I picked it up and checked everything. A bent shifter, scratched bar end and left side case. DAMN IT! I've had the bike a few weeks and I've already scratched it...

I get my tools out and straighten the shifter. Now I'm starting to notice some pain in my foot. I figured I broke a toe like I have several times in the past. No need to go to the hospital because all they'll do is tape it up.

Well, I pull off my my shoe and sock and I don't like what I see. First I see blood and my second toe is pointing the wrong way. Crap, it hurts but not that bad - it was numb.

Long story short, I sustained an open dislocation. What is that? Well, I was show and tell at the hospital because no one had ever seen one before. Basically, the toe was dislocated and the bone was sticking out. No broken bone, but the joint was poking out through the skin.

They shot me up, pulled like crazy to reset the toe then used 6-7 stitches to close it up where the bone protruded. When I went home, the foot was still numb. Today however, I am in terrible pain! Just got back with pain pills and I'm waiting for them to kick in.

The second pic is after they reset the toe.

I think the dog should be sued for damages (or, at least banned from the garage)!!

Get well soon.

Bummer EF. Just remember that those scratches on the bike, (and you), are just signs of character! Heal well mate.

Man, if we had gotten together this weekend for a ride, that might not have happened.
That is a graphic example of a bad day. At least this didn't happen on a warm, sunny day (if that's any consolation).
Sorry about the foot and the bike. Heal quickly and we will ride soon.

Capn,

Not really sure - must have been the peg or the side case. My entire foot is swollen now, can't believe it wasn't worse as sore as it is! Been snoozing in and out all afternoon now that the meds are in me. What a wasted weekend! Don't know how I'll make it in to work on Monday...hopping around on 1 foot. I think I'll call some buds to see if they have a pair of crutches laying around. Last night I could walk, but not today...

Thanks to all for the well wishes!

Shaun

+1

I didn't know that you needed ATGATT just to sweep the garage floor/

Overproof Rum is a good painkiller, especially Bundaberg OP (it is 115 proof or 57.7% ABV)

Although I have had Miss Jaffa (Burnt Orange 2007 Versys) for a while, I still have a lot to learn.
