Forget the Super Tenere, how about the new Triumph

800, or the Aprilia Shiver, I love Yamaha's, but the Super Tenere is ugly.........

The new Triumph looks more like F800GS, but the price tag is a boom here.

I want to like the Tiger, and I bet the motor is great, but I'm not feeling it. I see it & think, "eh..."

I thought the same thing. If you've followed the AdvRider thread imploring Yam to bring the Tenere to the USA you know that it's been going on now for 3 years or more. Apparently Triumph was reading that thread as well, as they brought their 800 adventure bike to market simultaneously as Yamaha saw the "light". Supposedly Big Red is just around the corner, too. Yamaha could've sold a ton of these things when there was no real competition other than the 1200GS (and perhaps the DL1K). Now the market is crowed with alternatives; and buyers will act accordingly.

Too late......

I really like the new 800 Tiger and I'd really like to ride one to see if it lives up to my expectations regardless of what Triumph says about the bike. If it did, I'd buy one but I'd keep my Versys. Versys is still the best bang for the buck.

How much?

I've seen 7000 = 8000 mentioned for the UK probably.

Versys is about 6000 = 6900 in the UK.

Fortunately, any new bike is out of my price range and I'm successfully cured from lusting-for-bigger-better-shinier-bike disease.

What does it look like? I didn't buy the V for its "cool" factor. Buy any ADV bike and your gonna be outta place at the big bike rallys aka sturgis. I don't care what it looks like. I wanna know, Is it? (1) functional. Are there accessories available ie. engine guards, skid plates, luggage racks etc, etc. (2) reliable. Is it gonna leave me stranded in the middle of Siberia on the "Road of Bones". Where willl the repair parts be shipped from? The Vatican?

Yeah, I go to Sturgis with my friends so often. I hadn't thought about losing them if I show up on my Versys. Better not go anymore. I'm gonna be so lonely.............but wait.......... I could buy a tricked out hog and have lots of "friends"!

I guess I'd better stay away from Strokers too. (Ma's Roadhouse)

Oh, Don! I just don't know if I should take you seriously....or not!!

Even if I sell the Versys, I'll probably stay around here just for the laughs.

I like the Triumph and Aprilia alot but.......I like my V especially when it's paid for. Perhaps if I get bored with it, I'll take a can of fushion paint and change the color or have the bike Dyno tuned. I think the 800cc segment is very strong.

I said exactly the same thing until I demo'd one (1050cc). If you're in the market for one but up in the air, a test ride will make you overlook the fugly.
