stirring the pot over the last 3 months....

Hi all -

1) I think my V (yes I called it a V) is a dual purpose bike that is good enough in the dirt to have fun

2) I find the stock seat very comfortable

3) Break in per Kawa instructions

4) Blue is the best color

5) I paid 4800 OTD used. OTD means ALL expenses including tax title tag etc

6) I use synthetic oil - it is the best

7) I love the Dunlops - they lasted me 10,000 miles

8) 44 tooth is the only way

9) I would prefer a v800 not v1000

10) I do not have a Ducati or BWM fetish - very happy with the V and won't rebadge her

11) No vibes for me - my V is smooth as silk - ok well maybe imitation silk

12) I like the sound of the stock muffler

Ha! all in good humor...bring it on!

13) I enjoy bringing the average age of V riders down substancially.

14) By in large, people who ride this motorcycle cry about things that would be a God-send on another bike (minor vibes, etc)

15) 62 HP is more power than 90% of riders can keep hold of at all times.

1,2,3 and no 4 your are so wrong everybody know orange is the fastest and it is proven.
5, can't argue with that as i would have to spend over 16,000 nz on a new 2010 abs so you guys get it pretty good. 6 sounds good to me, 7, had no probs with my oem's but wore the rear out after 800km and front at 12,000km. No 8 am am totaly with you on that one, love it. 9, if i rode more two up would like more but the 650 twin spins my wheels any more power and speed and would get in trouble. 10, happy as is, 11, don't really notice to much of a vibe prob but have done some work on that, 12, i do get a hard time from my wife about starting up the sewing machine as she calls it, when we have people over she fires up her cruiser in the garage and i can't compete with that.

It's a great practical bike, It is what it is!
15) 62 HP is more power than 90% of riders can keep hold of at all times.
62 is enough for one up, more is not needed except for ego, bragging or carrying two lard arses

Completely agree Bear. I love that this forum always has something new and interesting. When you think about all the crap going on everyday in people's lives, this forum is a refreshing break. Hard to imagine a simple 650cc motorcycle from Japan can bring so many people together.

Oh Yeah, my flashbacks are:

a. Pegs too high - Speedy fixed.
b. Seat too high - Speedy fixed.
c. Mirrors too narrow - need to be extended. Speedy fixed and Emgo'd.
d. Mystery 2010 fuse - now documented. I will use that accessory setup someday.
e. Shaky pentagonal mirrors - fixed.
f. Kickstand foot sank into asphalt on hot day - Speedy flatfoot fixed.
g. Wimpy horn. Will fix by New Years.

Worthy fixes and such to an amazing fun machine.

Someday is not a day of the week.

I don't have an issue with the mirrors or the vibes. I came from a dual-sport. There's a reason singles are called THUMPERS.

Compared to the XT this bike is smoooooth. And the mirrors are huge!

I honestly don't have an issue with the mirrors viability-wise, when properly adjusted I can see more than I need to. I guess I'm just more narrow than the average Versys owner. I only use my mirrors to check and see what other drivers are doing, at any lane change I ALWAYS turn my head, it would be silly not to.

My only problem with the mirrors is that they look kind of weird. I've been thinking about getting a round mirror from a KTM or something.

Let's see.....the Versys is fast for a 650 twin, fairly uncomplicated, has stiff enough suspension stock, handles great, comfy with the right seat, always draws a crowd at motorcycle gatherings, costs about half as much as other "Adventure bikes", has unlimited accessories available, is extremely under rated, can do pretty much anything asked of it, fairly rare to see yourself going down the street, dependable, high fun factor, gorgeous and odd looking at the same time (how does that work?) and has the best MC Forum in existence. Other than that, I'm not impressed.........

My farkles are pretty clearly of the...um..."other" preference.

I keep putting more and more of them on the bike together but I never find any new baby farkles.

And blue isn't the fastest color, but it does pull the hardest.

I'd rather be riding.
