Rattle between 2 and 3 thousand RPM.

Hey All,

I have a new noise. Happens between 2 and 3 thousand RPM and is still faintly noticeable after that. I did a check of the valves and all are within spec. Seems to come from the left side. This noise is obvious when bringing the engine up to speed in neutral. Any idea's?

Cheers!

Cowling buzz is a known 'feature', and there are several solutions - most of which seem to work.

This is no feature.

Talked to a shop and they said that it may something relating to the timing chain or tensioner. Maybe the oil pump chain.

Cheers!

Now that you've clarified that the noise is coming from the engine area, your shop guy may well be right. Sorry for my being unclear...
