Good news

Just got my bike back from Ron Ayers in Greenville nc. I was quoted 207.00 plus parts for a valve adj, thought that was reasonable. After 26k miles all valves were in spec and the bill was 145.00! Don't know why the discount but I won't fuss

it's a 2012. Service manager said it was because of careful maintenance and not bouncing off the rev limiter. I don't baby it but I rarely exceed 7k rpm.

I paid $180 for my 26k valve adjustment at a private (non franchised) workshop in Springfield MO, he said he only needed to adjust 3 valves (???)
& for an extra $20 he fitted new spark plugs & cleaned my air filter.

Out of curiosity, was the quote given to you before or after the "adjustment?"

I am guessing shop labor at least $90 an hour..... hard to believe someone could get in and out of there in that amount of time, plus removing the tank.

But I prefer to go slow. Well, that's really my only speed.

Did mine with the engine on the bench (with remote-tech. assistance from this forum).

A friend of mine and his son stopped over, his son Mike is an ACTUAL engineer .. apparently they give you a T shirt when you graduate..
