How many miles will they go?

I'm sure this is in the forum. But I can't find it. What's the maximum mileage we know the Versys will go?

As in lifetime mileage? Or miles on a tank of gas?

Lifetime mileage. I'm at 66K. Just curious what had been reached by someone so far. I'm scratchin my head on whether to get a new bike or not.

I sure HOPE a Versys will last well beyond 66K miles! My '02 (air/oil-cooled) Bandit had that many miles when I sold it, and it was still running well despite less-than-thorough maintenance!

Just curious if anyone who has a high mileage bike has oil consumption issues. I am currently at 9000km since my last oil change and the oil level does not seem to have dropped. 17,000km on the odometer currently. I do seem to get black soot out of the exhaust though as exhaust pipe around exit blackens quickly in as little as two tanks after cleaning.

I wouldn't worry about mileage until you're after the 100k mark.

I think this fear of how long a motorcycle engine will last is leftover from bikes that were made 30+ years ago. Coupled with those who ignore maintenance, and stories of "My uncle once said..."

Even your most basic air cooled v-twin engine doesn't get tired until 100k. And if you have a story of your bike dying at 45k miles well, you or a previous owner abused that bike. (Or you own a HD! ) Its 2016, we have fuel injection so your carb is never lean or rich. We keep our timing perfectly, oil filters instead of oil screens, rev limiters, and digital displays with engine lights. The only cause of a bike prematurely failing is always us fools on two wheels.

You ever read those posts about Goldwings in the 450k mile club? Keep riding and make a similar one about the Versys.

Here ya go!!!! He's still asking $2800. It's been up for sale for a couple months now.... No takers with 98k miles
Somebody message the guy and get the details of what maintenance was done.... I'm impressed, and embarrassed mine only has 12k miles

Theres a reason its been for sale for a couple months now I suppose. I wouldnt touch that bike with those miles and that price.. Not that I would totally avoid it at those miles, but I have seen them with half those miles for about the same price.
