Good Times Protection Plan?

I bought the extended warranty on my new '09, so I am under warranty for 5 years unlimited mileage. I ride about 15K to 20K a year....So, in my 4th year with 80K on it the cam chain starts knocking, will I be covered...how about at 90K it starts burning oil, do I get a top-end rebuild? That's my plan!

Did you get a printed copy of the GTPP certificate? It should tell you what's covered and what's not.

I'm curious as to the experience of folks who have purchased it and had warranty issues? Did the dealer fix them or did you get a runaround? Ever had to use it away from your home dealer?

Edit: I also found this thread, and it has a link to a copy of the GTPP form: http://www.kawasakiversys.com/forums...ght=good+times

Someday is not a day of the week.

I bet you'll get the runaround unless your motor quits dead. If it's just burning oil, they'll tell you that's normal for that mileage.

Yeah, I have a copy of the GTPP and the way it reads to me if anything in the chassis (mainly bearings) or motor wears out in in 5 years I am covered. I really like the unlimited mileage provision, because I put a lot of miles on my bikes. The only way legally I can see them giving me any runaround is due to lack of proper maintenance, so I am being sure to carefully document all the service/maintenance I do and save my receipts. It says it will be honored by any Kawi dealer in the country.

To me it is never "normal" to have to add oil all the time because the engine is burning it. With the "unlimited mileage" provision, if it is burning a lot of oil, the motor is worn out and needs to be fixed, regardless of mileage. I don't know...I guess time will tell!

I didn't buy the GTPP when I bought my V back in May. Does anyone know if you can purchase it after the fact? I thought I remembered hearing that I had up to 1 year to buy it (before the factory warranty ran out). But then again, I could very well have heard it wrong.

You can buy it anytime until the factory warranty expires. And in fact, Kawi just offered to renew my GTPP for another 4 years for $349 if I wanted. My 2 year GTPP expires this March.

That's great news! I'm probably going to wait till tax time next year and then pick it up for a couple years. Funds will be tight until then but I definitely want the extended protection.
