Algard rock guard

From what I have been reading here it would appear that the Algard is the rock guard of choice. If I have read correctly there are two different sets of mounting brackets. Which is the better set up? To me it sounds like the brackets from the muffler hanger.

Does any one have pictures of every thing OFF the bike?

Does any one have one that is not currently installed that I could borrow, rent or steal for a couple of days? I would pay the freight and provide a beverage of choice in exchange. I could also provide a deposit if need be.

Thanks,

Bob

Edit: What are they made of?
edit: I understand that the gentleman is out of business. I am hoping to find someone that will allow me to "borrow" the guard and brackets so that I may reproduce them for my own use.

Ride em if ya got em!

I believe you are correct. However as far as I know there is no Patent on them.

Read that as copycat!

As far as I know, they aren't for sale anymore. However, there are pictures of the guard with the two different mounting methods in this thread in post #9.

The author of that post (n17) was the manufacturer. He announced the end of the line in this thread, and his website is dead.

Thanks Dave.

I understand that he is out of business. I was / am hoping to find someone that will allow me the use of the guard and brackets so that I can reproduce it for my own use. I will edit my first post so that it is clearly stated.

Bob

edit. some how my searches had missed those pics. Thanks for the links!

Bob I know this wont help you out for the ADV rally, but I can pull my Algard off say mid Dec. You can play with it several months then!

It would be nice if someone made just a simple glide plate for those who don't want all the added protection the algard type offer.

Thanks,

I will take you up on that. I am actually all set the way I am. If you remember the radiator screen that I made, I have a lower one just like it. Easy on, Easy off. I just kind of like the way the Algard looks and was hoping to more or less copy it.

I am headed up Wednesday after work. IF I can get a tent site. I have been waiting for a call back since this afternoon.
I hope we cross paths.

The Algard (from what I have read) is really no more than a stone guard for the most part. I just like the way they look.

Find yourself a local sheet metal shop (H.V.A.C.) and ask for some perforated 20ga. stainless steel. You will be able to cut and shape it pretty much to your liking. You can even paint it if you like. Probably will need a new coat every year. You can attach it in so many ways that it will make your head spin. A little padding here and there so it will not rattle. and you are set to go.

I do agree that there are so many things that a lot of us would like to just buy and be done with. We need more Speedys!
