Do you have a track bike?

I bought a GSX-R600 to use only as a track bike and was wondering who else has a track specific bike. I know that a lot of people take their Vs out on track days, but I ride my V everyday so I don't really want to take it to the track.

What do you have and how often to you do track days or race?

Steve

I bought a motorcycle because my wife said that I couldn't! Now I have two and she still says I can't have another one!

I used to have an R6 dedicated track bike, I was going to tracks twice a month for a few years. Got to expensive due to a growing family and household expenses so I gave it up.

I am way too much of a chicken to take a bike to the track. I do track my car though.

I have a Ninja 650 I picked up - salvage title, pre-crashed. It's a great little bike for the track; very nimble, enough power so you have to brake every now and then, but low-powered enough that you have to learn lines and corner speed in order to get anywhere on it.

I also race supermoto on a CRF150R. I've been taking time off of racing this year - personal life is busy - but I've been taking it to the smaller track days to keep in practice.

That's why I bought my V, (actually picked it up today ) so that I can use the R1 for track only now. I put 33K mi on the R1 and I am ready for a more practical every day bike.

I used to have a GSX-R600 for the track but sold it. I'll probably be picking up an SV650 or something as a track mule.

yep ...

I have a 2009 ZX6R Monster as my "track only" bike but I also have a Ninja 650 that I will be using for track duty too. Just got the Ninja and will be taking it to the track (along with my ZX6R) the first weekend in September. As was mentioned - great bike and it forces you to ride fast not just twist the throttle.

If you ride with NESBA (a track day organization), they require you run a number for identification purposes.

I am certified to race. Just need to do my provisional race to get my license but I simply don't have the budget to go club racing. It's expensive. Just travel, hotel, food, and tires is cost prohibitive, then you have to add in fees, maintenance, and crash damage repair (if you have a spill). Most say they figure $1000 per race weekend.

Contingency money helps, but not enough to cover the costs.

I would love to race though. I took third place in my mock race in race school. I was on my 600...top two were on 1000s.

The bike with the numbers gets raced (SM, since I'm a cheap bastid), the bike without doesn't. My GoPro has a way of screwing up the vid or cutting out when I have a good race, so I don't have any supermoto races on it. I do have an unlimited SM pave-only race on it - I chose a **** line at the start, got shuffled to last in the first turn, made some spots, and was closing in on third by the end. I was a little too excited, made bad decisions, missed some apexes - I've had better races, but not on film.

I do have a supermoto track day; unfortunately, all of the bigger bikes were half a lap away and stayed there, so no cool passing shots.

Once I get some fairing on the 650, I'll find a place to mount it.

+1 on Expensive - add trackdays/testing, plus 3 days spent in a muddly paddock 200 odd miles away.

looks like a laugh Roadstergal

these 650's are slow but probably more fun - see annoying everybody with mates race ER6 in front, 75hp at the time, gsxr forks, wheels etc. ( my pegs worn away by now so less lifting/running wide trying to keep speed up)

anyone else?

I have an 04 SV650 I use as my track bike. Nothing special, just frame sliders and hotbodies plastics. We usually hit the track a few times Spring and Fall using Sportbiketracktime.com. Only in intermediate right now. Older age means slow healing...
