Impressions from first serious ride on 2009 used V with 2200 miles on it

270 ride miles
78F at 8:00am
95F by 4:00pm
Most miles between fillups = 200
Best MPG = 45mpg

I've had the bike now for about 3 weeks, this is the first serious ride out in the Hill Country.
The V rode great. I had less problems with the wind that I thought I would have with a 450 lb bike.
The Givi windshield is perfect for me, I get no buffeting on the helmet, very quiet ride.
The Corbin saddle is great, glad the previous owner got it! I've never ridden on a stock V seat, but I've sure read some horror stories.
The stock tires, yeah, aren't the best, they did not like the tar snakes in the curves, very slippery. I will want some dual sport type tires when the time comes.
The bike is so light and nimble coming from my 1100-1300cc cruisers, especially the one with the 21" front wheel, you have to wrestle that one around a 70mph curve. This V bike just guides itself around a 70 mph curve, even 80mph and its so controllable.
Added 20mph to posted curve speed limits, 35mp curve was a 55mph, 65mph curve was a 85mph curve, no problems, rock solid.
A great day, discovered that I made a fantastic choice with the V bike. It's just what I have been looking for.

And the big bonus is that it makes a good long haul bike too.

Those Givi 21s came with the bike, I love 'em, like another guy said, they aren;t too wide, they tuck in close to the bike. I used one for tools and one for an ice chest today. I also have the Givi box for the back. I am looking forward to using this bike to do 500 mile days to get to Colorado.

Here a pic of some guy's "my front gate is bigger than your front gate"

It's great to hear that you like your V, and that you had good rides with friends.
I agree that the V is rock solid in turns, I have to admit more so than I expected from such a small and light bike. But this is my first "small and light" bike, so what do I know?
Sometimes when I am on an on-ramp behind other cars, so taking it easy, I feel like I could take both hands off the handlebars and the V would keep taking the turn just fine.

Great bike, great area to tour through. I wish I'd had one when I lived there (near Helotes).
But 45 mpg? You, sir must have been slapping those cases pretty hard with your riding crop... You should have a blast round-tripping to CO.

I got 209 out of my tank yesterday, with 4.3 to fill it back up again, for about 48.6mpg. And that seems to be the most consistent gas mileage I get. I believe my best was 50mpg, maybe twice. Most of the time, I get right at 48.

By the way, my total mileage for the day was a little over 230. We REALLY need to do that again! Maybe a three sisters ride...

I get about 47 mpg.

I would like to do the 3 sisters. But not while we are in a heat advisory.

I like 2 of the sisters but that 3rd one...whew, nasty...about 20 some odd cattle guards, all of 'em 20mph, 'cause they're so deep and rutted.

I got a liitle over 51 MPG yesterday, not running quite as hard as Rick & Jake. Still in breakin period, at least that was my excuse!

Whenever you're ready, give me a yell. I'll ride 'em with you. I'm hoping this will be a great Fall, temperature wise. It's been pretty mellow so far this year. I hope this heat goes away fairly quick. But like we mentioned earlier, even yesterday, the weather was great. It was little warm in the afternoon, but the morning temp was great.

Have you heard of the Koyote Ranch?? And there are quite a few motels in and around the sisters, if you're interested, as well as camp grounds. Course, I don't know about you, but I MUCH prefer coming home to a nice cold A/C & a comfy bed than an uncomfortable sleeping bag...

A good website for Hill Country riding...

I just got 58 mpg, about 250 miles on a tank....but that was mostly commuting on straight, boring, roads. I had a cruiser before that got about 40 mpg and wasn't nearly as much fun.
