Part #'s

Wanted to be sure before ordering.
If I buy the Top case rack part # FZ447 http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade...view/3944/652/

I can then use any Givi case without any other adapters.

Or
I can install a SW Mottech aluminum tail rack http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade...tview/3906/78/

and have to purchase a separate adapter plate for different brands of Top cases.
This method also enables me to buy a soft bag adapter plate
http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade...view/5417/533/
and really opens up the options for what can be strapped on.

Yep!

I went the SW-Motech Route. Also considering the soft luggage plate for a little more versatility.

Hey CKirk - curious why you chose SW_M instead of Givi. Thinking about buying one or the other and wanted your input....are you happy with it?

Gonna be honest. I ordered it for my 2010 back on May 23rd. Dang if it still has not shipped from Twisted Throttle. They had to order it from Germany and it arrived last Tuesday and they had two shipping containers full of goodies and they could not find it. It was supposed to ship on July 19th. Just checked with them and it shipped today!!

I chose the SW-Motech over the Givi based on photos online. I will be riding without luggage 80% of the time. With the trunk removed, I think the SW-Motech wins hands down over the Givi. Just my personal opinion and why I went with Motech. If I were to leave the trunk on all the time, its a toss. I am not saying Givi is sub par by any means.

Givi looks better with trunk.

Weljo2001, I hope you dont mind me borrowing your pics. You always seem glad to help everybody!

I would be glad to post photos Friday or Saturday of my install and what the setup looks like!

My one concern on the SW-Motech Rack would be if you were in an accident or laid the bike down. If the rack were to hit you would it be like getting sliced by a carving knife?

Just installed the Motech last night. The plate is really thick and very well made. There are no sharp edges. I'll try to get pics in the next day or so.

I do not have any more concerns about the rack causing injury any more so than the swingarm, handlebars, pegs, guard rails, sign posts, vehicles, trailors, rock walls, concrete barricades, trees, water hydrants, buildings, deer, or the gazillion other possible things that could cause injury in a crash.

I see your point and have often wondered why so many people who ride cruisers put spikes all over their bikes such as these.
