I bought the same thing and thought the same thing, until I flipped it upside down and set it up like a Laminar Lip or similar. It really quieted down the buffeting.

flip the little wind screen to point downwards. it shouldn't be much higher than the screen itself. then move it in and out and tip it at different angles until you get the wind/noise where you want it.

52Degrees, how's the cheap new mod working out for you after adjusting?

It's been swell, but the swelling has gone down.

Just donít tighten the screws too tight on the mount that slides onto your big screen,it will make small cracks. Thatís even with the two small metal shims in place & rubber part. The last bike I put it on I really couldnít tell the difference. I have no intention of using it on my Versys with my PUIG Touring screen.

Can't tighten it too much or the stupid shims slide out to the sides. They really did a mediocre job designing this.

I didn't have problem with my wind deflector on my V650.
It is on same place where I put them before 9 months
I just clean on windscreen place where it be with alcohol, and rubber also with alcohol.
2 screws which are on front part, I added threadlocker glue, and really gentle tight them.
Other 4 screws I added threadlocker tape, and tight enough to not move ( also i have all time in my wallet allen key for case if some screws loose tightness )
I have that deflector last 10 000km, and my top speed was 190 km/h, and didn't move from place where I put them.
Angle which I choose is best for me, and didn't change since first day, no matter how fast i ride.
Buffeting is 99.9% gone.

I love my cheap Ebay deflector. The rubber bits that came with it were way too soft. So what I did was cut up some pieces of a thick, wide rubber band. Also cut up a rubber bracelet, (like you would get for free on a Benefit run).

After layering up some of these rubber pieces behind the original soft rubber I was able to crank the screws down on the mounting bracket.

You can also see the yellow rubber band that I used in between the shield and metal bracket.
