Hand Guards

I'm certainly learning lots about add-ons for my Versys 1000, thanks in part to the members on this board. Next on my list is hand guards. Two questions. One, do people use hand guards? And if the answer is yes, the second question is what kind?

The Barkbuster Storms with LED turn signals are installed. I'm happy with the final result.

However, I guess my windshield is not OEM. It flares out at the bottom on each side. The result is that in tight turns the Barkbusters make contact with the windshield at the flare-out point. I can't turn my front wheel all the way to the left to lock it. And I can't make any tight turns, right or left, without the handguards making contacting with the windshield. I expect this would have happened with any handguards.

I will have to cut out a piece about 2"x3" at the top of each flare, on each side of the windshield, to enable full turning and ensure no handguard contact.
