Warmer Hands In Cold Weather

Something I knew I'd be giving up selling the Goldwing is weather protection. I can live with that...my choice. That doesn't mean I'm happy to leave the new V-1 as it is and just smile in the face of adversity.

I spent a bit of time on Monday looking at the bike, trying to figure out a way to spare my thumbs and fingers from the cold that heated grips don't take care of.

A trip to the hardware store and a few hours of designing, heating, forming, and fitting and here is what I came up with. These acrylic wind deflectors are less obvious to the eye than the pics might suggest and they work quite nicely. Problem solved.

Also, I wanted a top box, but not one like any I've seen, so I re purposed an old typewriter case, painting it to match the bike, adding 3 superbright LEDs as additional brake lights. It's aluminum, very strong, looks weather proof, and serves well as the catch-all I want. I'll add some tie-downs to it so I can attach a duffel or such when touring.
