Alpinestars Ridge or Thor 50/50

Well its time for some new boots (I guess I don't really need them until the 2 feet of snow melts). I saw a review for the Ridge boots in Cycle Canada Mag. Got good reviews. I like the look of the 50/50. The ridge is waterproof but the 50/50 would be cooler in summer.

Does anyone own either of these boots, and if so what do you think?

I have the 50/50 Thor they are great in warm weather, not to bad in most rains either but you do get somewhat wet feet.

this may seem on ovious appraoch...
get the ones that fit, rather than look...
after you've done that if you've got some cash left over in your pocket itching to leap into a retailers pocket, and you (or your bike) have nothing else more deserving of your cash, then consider buying another pair of boots.....

I've tried on both, and they both fit great! how they look is not so important to me. i'm interested to know more about performance and wear. does anyone find the ridge boots to hot in summer. because this is a concern i should spend more money and get the gortex ones, however money is also a concern. I currently have a very tall boot that is water proof and too hot in summer. the more i type the more i'm making up my own mind, aren't forums great.

thats so often the way, I find putting down my thoughts on paper often flushes out the indecision or impondearables.

go for it, and get out on the bike (weather permitting), consider it the justification (read excuse) to go off on the bike for a good long run (just to break in the boots natch).

did the Ridge boots fit true to size? were they wide at all? My main concern is I have very wide feet. Did the ankle and heel protection seem pretty solid?

the thor boots may fit a wider foot, the alpines are CE rated (I think) so the protection is very good, IMHO the alpines fit true to size, the only way to know is to try 'em on!

Not sure if anyone has mentioned these....I need a pair of mid level boots that are comfortable enough to wear all day in school and not look like a Harley guy or a visitor from outer space.
