Post Sena Question

Our kids gave my wife and I Sena 10HB sets a couple years ago. I keep it mounted on a helmet I only use for around town rides with her. My long distance riding buddy bought a Sena 20S (not the EVO) for himself. So I bought another clamp on connector for my regular helmet to mount my Sena 10. He complains that he hears too much road and scratchy interference from me. He says his 20s will only transmit when somebody talks and indeed I don't hear noise from him. Is this true that the 20s has something not in the 10? If so I will try to get a 20S for our road trips. Thanks for any info.

I have a 20S EVO and the only thing I could think of it is that it has a more advanced noise cancellation than the Sena 10. Also, it mutes when your voice is not detected just like your friend says, so interference or static noises are not broadcasted to others.

Have you downloaded the phone app?
Not sure on your version, but on my 20 I can turn the VOX setting on. Thats the voice operated option.

Don't forget to connect your headset to your computer and check for firmware updates using Sena's app. They are pretty good about issuing updates, even for older models, that add features and fix software problems.

2011 V650 in Black, well accessorized.

I would install firmware updates and check with sena app that noise suppression is turned on before doing anything else. Also where you install your mike is important as is using in a FF helmet. I have the same unit and have no issues with noise.

common noise issue... I have 20s mates have 10u and when ever he connects it sound like someone is playing spoons in my helmet. klink klinkkk klinks klinking

We have got rid of most of the issues by both of us upgrading to the latest firmware - but there is still some background noise - but so much less than before.

The biggest issue is that the 10's so not connect to the 20's/30's (20s 20evo 30k) using HD audio mode.
They connect using universal audio and so are constant on or Live comms.
When 20's and 30's connect with HD audio you get VOX and mutli audio capabilities.

Thanks everybody. I am not a smart phone guy, so that is out. BUT, I will try to update the firmware. Also, when I got the mounting piece only, the microphone does not stay in place as well as original. It is a velcro type mount on the fabric of the helmet. Also, it is on a modular helmet. We we head out Thursday we will try my old unit, on my old FF but not modular helmet. That allows me to tuck the microphone up higher in the helmet. Thanks again, Chuck
