jacket material comparrisons?

Anyone know of a good site that spells out the differences in abrasion resistance etc. for the different jacket and pant materials (leather, perf'ed leather, cordura, mesh)?

I'm wanting a new jacket and maybe pants and want to make an informed decison.

Try here...

http://motoport.com/Page.Asp?Id=19

It is the Motoport page on "Save your hide". There are some interesting numbers down at the bottom.

I dont know exactly where Wayne, the owner of Motoport, got all of these figures from, but I do know that he had to do extensive testing of his kevlar gear to get it approved by all the major motorcycle racing organizations.

Thats right...motoports stuff is the only non-leather textile gear to be approved by the AMA, WERA and the FIM for racing. Pretty impressive really, as we have all watched racers crash at stupid speeds and the guys who run these races say Waynes gear is up to it.

Hope this helps.

That's some great info. Thanks. Anyone know how cordura mesh stands up as compared to the rest of the stuff.

I think Aerostich also sells approved textile stuff, it's $$$$$.

There's a shop called newenough.com that sells decent stuff cheap.

I've been riding in full competition grade leather lately. Feels good. Reassuring. All I need is some decent boots.

Is a great site they test all sorts of M/C products and tell it like it is, if its crap they'll tell you and tell you why. I use them as a reference when looking at new stuff.
