Default Cap'n Kirks 2010 Black Versys

NO LONGER FOR SALE AS OF 11/16/12.

Hey all,

After much deliberation, I have decided to offer my Versys up for sale. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this bike, well maintained and treated right by a mature rider. I have my sights on another bike.

Modifications are as follows:
SW Motech Alurack and Givi Adapter (I am keeping the V46 Topcase with lights - adjusted asking price accordingly)
Motowerk Handlebar Riser
Motowerk Lowering Kit
Motowerk Flatfoot
Evotech Radiator Guard
Kawasaki Tall Windshield (Not shown in pictures but currently installed)
Backoff XP Brake Modulator
44 tooth rear sprocket
Cap'n Kirks 12V Power Socket Installed
Spencer Seat mod

If you are looking for a great used bike that has been well taken care of, give me a shout and lets talk. Thanks for checking out this post!

Well Capn I am getting a little bummed out! Now you are out of here too!

May I ask what bike you are looking at?

And by the way for all Buyers, this bike is worth more than what the Capn. is asking! I have the same bike and its awesome!

Good luck Capn! Its been a fun ride!

Thanks MTS! I agree but I priced it where if I were looking, I would inquire. Far too many people ask way too much. The problem with asking a more fair price is that I don't have a bunch wiggle room.

Thanks MTS! We have been through quite a bit together! And who knows?? If I don't find a buyer, I still own a super fun bike! As I mentioned in my post, this was a difficult decision. The NC just spoke to me when I rode it. I think it will better serve my conservative riding nature. I can get into specs and observations, but I will do that in another thread.

Please don't drop off the grid like Weljo when he was selling his V.

I undrerstand and agree! I ride about like you do. NC shifting looks awesome!

For your info Honda dealer out here offered staight across trade for CRF250L. Not that I was thinking about that or anything. LOL

When I told my friend I ride with, he got all mad. So I backed off. LOL

When I first saw the title I figured you were going to go get that Harley Davidson you've been dreaming about.

2010, the rarest V here in the states.
A really nice bike for whoever buys it.
Capn Kirk, you've been a huge part of this forum, thanks so much for all your contributions to Versys Lore.

You are correct! But why is that? Two dealers said sorry can not get one, third dealer said maybe but three months. I said order it and three months later I picked it up.

Will you be transferring your tag to the new Honda?

Someone said "Change is inevitable". I think that person was a rider. Enjoyed reading your input on this forum Cap. I understand the pull of something new. Happens all the time. Until the bike sells, I look forward to reading your posts, and when it sells, I look forward to an occasional drop in to let us know how the new bike performs.

I tell you what... The Versys has opened my eyes to the fun of a sporty bike. I come from exclusively a metric cruiser background. I have no plans on ever going back. The upright position and a sporty machine really appeal to me. In my future I can only envision a sport touring type machine and all because of the Versys.

I have thought of taking the tag with me if I can. In my mind, I already call the NC the Honda Versys!

I still love my V. This has been very difficult for me because this will be more of a lateral move for me in most aspects.

Thanks! The people here make this forum great! I guess because the Versys is such a hard to categorize bike, we really all have in common the fact that we all decided to break out into a different style of bike. I have enjoyed they company we keep here as well and plan on sticking around. I have checked out the NC700X forum already and its funny how similar it is to ours by way of topics.... The seat is horrible (hard and slopes into the tank or fake tank) anyone re-foamed the stocker??... How can I get more power out of this twin.... One thing missing there is Speedy and his Motowerk components!

I appreciate most of the people here as well. I even consider many here my friends even though I have never met them. When i joined, I was blown away by the wealth of information from others, how willing people were to help instead of fuss about the subject being covered before, and how few threads ended in a train wreck. We did have a few of those! Haha

Bah.. hate to see you go Capn. Your guides got me through several projects. I may have to steal your Capt Kirk avatar because it makes me laugh every time I see it (have a link to the original?).

I, too, am eyeing the Honda. I'll be in the market for a new bike in the spring and have been going back and forth between a '10 or newer Versys or the Honda. I have an '84 Magna V65 and an '09 China bike. Don't laugh, it's held up very well for my $2000 investment new with another $100 for a pipe, jets, and headlight. It will go up to 70 mph but it's screaming. The thing is, I got it to ride back and forth to work and it gets 70 mpg...the same as the Honda. I'm used to the low speed shifting that the Honda will require also. I know it sounds like I've already made my decision but the Versys has the sporty-ness going for it. I have yet to sit on the Honda but I have a Versys and it fits we well. I'm hoping to do a compairison as my local Honda dealer now also sells Kawasaki...WHEN they get another Honda in. A customer ordered one and it's they only one they've gotten in.

I still have more thinking to do I guess...
