FOR SALE!!!
2009 Versys in Detroit, Michigan.
Candy Lime Green.
my e-mail addy is gafferboy38@yahoo.com
My first bike ever...and a GREAT first bike.
Hell...a brilliant bike !
Never ever bumped, bruised or dropped.
Always kept in a garage.
21,000 miles on the clock over 36 months of riding joy!
Beautifully maintained with synthetic oil changes every 5000 miles.
Factory tune-up @ approx. 16k miles with a clean bill of health.
Conti "Road Attack 2's" with 3000 miles on them. ( second set...I love-'em! )
All the little vibrations have been hunted down and killed. the IP buttons were properly lubed ( when they stopped working) at around 3500 miles and that problem never came back. Also the IP's plastic retainers ( on either side of the cluster it's self) were replaced with Stainless steel metric hardware very early on.
Chain is original. Cleaned as needed and always lubed with Dupont Teflon dry lube. At the major factory service my mechanic refused to sell me a new one as it wasn't needed yet.
(yeah...I'm one of the lucky ones...I have a dealership worthy of my trust and if you live in the Detroit metro area I Highly recommend you doing business with Macomb Powersport!).
Farckles as follows:
No more tank decals.
"The Green Hornet" ( Easily removable before you ride away )
"V-Stream" Shield. ( factory screen included)
AXIO Tail bag. ( I might keep this...lol...you tell me. )
Skidmarx Hugger. ( painted to match swing arm.)
Supersprox 43 tooth final drive. (original sprocket included of-course )
Continental 'Road Attack 2' rubber.
Asking $5095.00 USD.
(AND....if you like the jacket, and it fits you...and you would like 'matching upholstery'...LOL...I'll include the Jacket! What the heck! )
And the only reason I am selling my "V" is because I am looking to upgrade.
But....Tears will be shed!
PS...also included at no extra charge....The Best motorcycle forum in all the known Universe! I Love you guys!

I imagine I won't be buying the ...'Striple' ( Yup! I'm learning the lingo LMAO) until spring so I figure, get the "V" out there, wait and see.
Riding season is about over here in the great white north. (If I sell it this fall...I'll only miss out on sneaking in a ride or two between the winter ups and downs).
It really is one hell of a bike as all of you know.
I'm certainly not bored with the Versys! but I'm ready to experience something different.
Macomb Powersport is always asking me if I want to sell the Versys....so I plan on stopping in this Wednesday to see what they would offer up in the way of cashy money. ( I should probably see what the Triumph dealer would give as a trade-in too.) I have a cap on what I might borrow in order to close the deal (on the Triple) and i will not budge on that number.
Call it research...and all pricing is negotiable.
WOW! I never thought I would be doing this but it's all very exciting and YES Rick...the Triumph is indeed Haunting my dreams!
We shall see what we shall see.
and thanks 'Tigerpaw'. I'm sure I'll be lurking about no matter what and so long as I am welcome.

Well don't stop coming around! Your always positive presence helps make this forum such a nice place to visit. That's a really clean bike, you did a good job with it.
Personally, I'd hold off until the spring to sell, just 'cause of higher demand. I don't know how your insurer works, but some may use a break in coverage to charge you a higher rate. Might be worth checking out.
And even of you sell the Hornet, still drop by and contribute to the forum. Even if you don't have the bike, you have the knowledge.
Hey Carl - I'm PRETTY SURE your jacket will fit ME, and match MY "Green Hornet"....
Buy the bike and the jacket is yours.....he he he !
Hows about we cross that bridge after I sell the bike.

That would be the 'Street Triple'...possibly the Street Triple "R".

Stagehand,
What are the main reasons you have for going to the Triple? I've been looking at the Triple (and Triple R) as well as Ducati Monster (800 or 1100). I ride mostly backroads and can't find a good reason to change bikes - except that the new ones look really great.
Thanks

Hmmm...have you ridden a Triple yet?
I made that mistake and now I can't get it outta my head.
The level of refinement is just overwhelming.
Of course there is a considerable increase in performance.
The Ducati is awesome as well mind you but, the maintenance schedule that comes with Desmodromic valve train is prohibitive in my eyes. ( I'm a oil and filters kinda guy...I leave the guts to the pros..they know best and HEY...they gotta make a living too).
!)The 'Striple' is 40 pounds lighter.
(over (or is that, Under) the "V")
BHP is up by 49hp...(59 vs 108)
The bike is amazingly smooth, solid, and vibe-free.
Brakes are equally impressive.
Though I always found the Versys to be extremely comfortable; The triumph raises the bar Ten fold. In my humble opinion.
Power delivery is butter smooth...I'll even go so far as to say...shockingly smooth!
I never understood how quiet a helmet becomes on a 'naked' bike.
(That was an eye opener!!!!!).
My Dad ask me why I didn't just start off with the Triumph ( I say you don't nessasarily start off on a machine with 108 hp! and to be truthful I never thought I would do anything but ride the "V" right into the ground.
The Triple is FAST!
Even with the stock 'cans' the sound it makes is overwhelmingly, awe inspiring!
Torque curve! what torque curve??? It's a flat-line for gosh sakes! It pulled from 1500rpms in 6th gear with nary a shake, hitch, or shimmy!
The Versys is Brilliant...I could not have chosen a better 'first' bike.
The Street-Triple is even more so, (it's at a whole different level) and at a price I find hard to comprehend. HOW DO THEY DO IT! I don't know but.....
...I'm gonna do my bloody well best to put one between my legs!
I just hope the Dealership is as good as my Kawi (Macomb Powersport) dealer has been...but i got a feeling that will not be an issue.
Yea...I'm smitten!
But don't get me started

Stagehand, congrats on your soon to be new ride. I own an 02 Daytona 955i and am well familiar with the Triumph site as well. I have not seen one bad review of that bike. It will be a more exciting ride than the comparatively bland Versys. One thing though, the Triumphs can have problems unlike the exceptionally reliable Versys. Comparing postings between the sites will bear this out. That being said, I very nearly bought one instead of the Versys.
Have you demo'd the Speed Triple? That 1050 motor has a wonderful power delivery. My 955i has 130 RWHP. It is very docile at low rpm but goes mental as you heat it up.
Good luck and safe riding. Don't forget to post back your own feelings and reviews about the Triumph.
Thanks "Blip".
looking foreword to spring when I can make my move.

Good for you Carl, the Versys is a best bang for your buck great entry level bike but that's it. There are so many bikes that are way way better but way more $$$. Enjoy your new ride what ever it be.
Enjoy Carl! Are we all frickin lucky to enjoy all these bikes or what! I have friends that will never be able to ride because of health issues. Be safe and ride free!
