Don't stereotype all Harley owners . I have a Harley . I don't own any Harley t shirts or jackets I don't have a Harley sticker on my truck don't belong to the hog chapter. I wear a ff helmet Joe rocket jacket draggin jeans gloves boots .I did not buy it to act like a bad ass or join some secret brotherhood .I just like bikes. I would have just as much passion for a Honda nsr 50 as I would for the Harley xr1200. Harley will be around if not I will not loose any sleep over it same if Kawasaki stopped making the versys . There are to many excellent motorcycles out there to limit yourself to one brand either Harley or Kawasaki.
When I was a kid, Harleys were just about all I ever thought about - enough for equal billing with girls and beer. Funny, but it's also the only major brand that I've never owned. I still think that some of them are the best looking bikes on the road, despite the lack of newer technology. Hey, if nothing else, they're the ultimate farkle holder. A lot of riders today seem to be professionals - doctors, lawyers and others wealthy enough to afford the heavy iron. The bikes give 'em a taste of 'the wild side' and I'm cool with that.
Something else that I've noticed is that Harley riders are often the first to stop to see if everything is OK when they see me parked by the side of the road getting some photos. I enjoy 'em all, as I do the hot rods that some of my buddies spend their time and money restoring. It's good to simply see people getting excited over anything other than TV and video games...
I could see myself picking up an old Harley as a 'project' bike - it would be a lot of fun to restore one of the old ones, if I could just afford the time and money.
