Naked tank, I have completed the tank... bracket removal, grinding and fiberglass work. I am waiting on another set of fork brackets and need to complete the headlight (which is kicking my a**) LOL, I will then have everything painted Versys red.

Progress has been a bit slow, I installed my front tire about two weeks ago and started to install the rear tire this past Sunday and tweeked my lower back, bed rest for a few days, lost days at work $$$, so I had the local shop swap it for me Tuesday for $20 bucks, for 20 bucks I will never swap another out, LOL. I had the leftover rear half of the front SM610 fender so I cut off the rear blinkers today and installed it as a rear fender, I may trim it up a little. I have also installed some Renthal handle bars I had setting around the garage, they are a little wider and rise about 2 1/2". I installed the Versys wind screen on top of the fairing for a litle more protection.

I really need to get the overflow bottle completed but cannot find the right plumbing watertight fittings, the only place I have not been is a plumbing supply store, maybe this week ?

The home town is Houston Tx.

Where the humidity is higher than the temp during the summer, I call it the armpit of America : )

tragerbon,

I'm curious how much, roughly, that Husky headlight, bracket and fender cost you. Is that Versys' stock windshield? Are the dials and dash stock or new?
I recently had an incident with my V. and headlight bracket and entire headlight assembly needed to be replaced at around 500euro (670$).
Maybe if I planned it better I could have gone with similar solution to yours...

Cheers.

So far...

Brackets $50 x 2-sets = $110.
Fender & fairing used $75.
Headlight, Trail Tech $130.
Versys wind shield (came with new bike)
A fair amount of my time (free to me
$150 loss for cutting up the original Versys fairing bracket = crap <--

I am not complete with it, I need to cut another hole in it for the other 2" light under the fairing, finish the 4" round cover for the light you see now to make it seamless and complete the bracket to mount the original speed-O and paint the brackets black ?

I was looking at this pic the other day and started thinking ?

I think the fenders will remain white but the rest is still open for thought.

But I will need a green Husky sticker : )

Looking awesome Trag, For hose fittings go to your local http://www.pirtekusa.com/ dealer they do Hydraulic truck fittings, i used them in my aluminum overflow bottle sealed with some Locktite.

Its amazing how well matched the Lower part of the Versys Windshield and the Husky fairing are.

Hi all naked Versys people. Cool looking machines.

I would be interested in buying some of the pieces you have removed from your bikes. Here is what I'm looking for:

-Headlight, headlight rim, support frame
-Instrument cowling
-Stock windshield, windshield brackets
-Left side radiator cowling (black)
-Right side tank cowling

Please PM me.

Please check the For Sale link. You may find some of these parts.
As for me - I'm looking for a RH footpeg side plate. The OEM ones are not very strong and break off, even with the folding footpegs, when pressure is put on them. They are described as: stay, step,FR, RH, P, silver in the KAWI parts catalog. PM me if you folks have any for sale. Thanks.

Latest update: I cut the second hole in the fairing for the low beam headlight and wired everything up, I now have high/low beam lights for the first time since I remove everything...Woo Hoo, it`s still not finished though (lol). I mounted the rear fender permanently, I just need blinkers and a overflow tank, etc...

I getting a little closer, it`s been too hot to work in the garage as I have no desire to work in 90+ degrees and the 90% humidity (= death warmed over).
I have installed the mirrors, a new used coolant from the junk yard has been installed behind the radiator, removed one set of headlight brackets (did not like how they looked and a single set seems to be strong enough). I re-installed the stock blinkers (for now), raised the entire headlight fender assembly about 2", adjusted the forks to the maxium height and dropped the tank off for paint on sat. I still need to mount the speedo, I may drill and tap the steering stem and make a small bracket.

I am thinking about painting the rear spring black and adding some red fork guards.
