Oh - and think "Fort Mac" (Fort McMurray - the oil-sands) for work, although the place is VERY short on lodging, and IF you're driving, Hwy 63 is EXTREMELY dangerous!
I am in Edmonton by 2.5 weeks now and i am looking for a job with LMO
It really cold here but its ok, i like the way of living here
edit:the restaurants are fine(Astro) :-))
Glad you made it. If the weather gets too cold for you, consider the west coast. If you miss the company of many Greeks, consider Toronto. Edmonton is a great city though and I think work wise you landed in a good place to start.
There was a great Greek Restaurant on the northbound side of the Calgary Trail across from the Greenwood Inn that was featured for years on a TV show called the "family restaurant". Haven't eaten there in years but it was great 5 years ago last time I visited. If there are any Edmonton Versyian's here maybe they can steer you in the right direction.

Ι decided to stay in Edmonton cause the taxes are less and the wages more, plus there are a lot of work to do
The minus is the thing with the work permit that i can take in any border
They are very tough and it is a stressfull process, a friend of mine stayed there 7 hours to ask him so many things, if you kill a person maybe they will ask you less things
We are not criminals, we are imigrants that we want better future for our children
Alberta is 661.000 square KM and have only 3.5m of people, there are so much space for new people, why they have to be so difficult to take the damned work permit?
The good thing is that i found a job and now i am waiting for the LMO so i can go to a border to ask a work permit
I cant sleep the night only by thinking what i have to pass there...
