I just got myself a free Nokia Lumia 820, but dont really know much about them. I got my first smart phone back in Sept. a Galaxy SII on straight talk. From what I have read online tonight I can put my sim card into the phone and use it. I like the SII that I have but it is all I know other than briefly using friends other phones.
What I am mainly concerned about on the Lumia is the availability of apps and such. I see most apps say they work on Droid and Apple, but no mention of Windows, or really hearing anything about this operating system.
I dont know how apps work on the windows phone but I AM in the market for a new phone and would like either the SG SII or the nokia...so lemme know either way

I replaced my droid incredible with a Nokia 822 a week ago and have been very impressed. The battery life is easily 1.25 to 1.5 days between charging and I haven't needed to reboot the phone yet in the 7 days I've own it. The simple tile interface does work well and it has most of the major apps I used on the droid (Glympse, You Tube, Facebook, Twitter, IMDB). If there are apps that aren't currently supported that you would need then the decision is harder.
I'm a .net developer so I'd like to see Microsoft do well and bought one as a sign of support but if it doesn't get the developer support/customer base then I'll go back to the droid at some point.
