Yup - there's a water shut-off, but the problem is the main floor hardwood needs humidity to keep from 'creaking' and cracking. IF we'd had it built there'd be tile, NOT hardwood...! Humidity here is like in AZ - it don't exist UNLESS you have a humidifier on 24/7.

When it goes off the alarm goes to TWO sets of folks with keys to check on the problem. HOPEFULLY they'll never be called.

Got LOTS of sunblock in my suitcase - it does shine over there in VA for you...?

Dave - REALLY? You CAN'T ride ALL YEAR round...?

BTW - I just 'stored' the Green Hornet till spring - put 11,709 kms on it since returning from AZ in the spring. (Along with aprox. 9,000 miles on Big Red from last fall to this spring....)

Paris Virginia? Remember, the 45 mph speed limit on Route 17 is, as the signs say, "strictly enforced".

That area is a favorite of mine, although I don't take the RT off-road. WV9 West out of Berkeley Springs is a great road.

Fantastic thread and build. I think amber side lights should be fitted to all bikes.

Dave - been checking up on you on ADV, but, like the man said - NICE to see you back (even IF it's just a "drop-in"...).

See ya in Dawson in June...?

you must be ready to head back to BC soon, complete with a winter tan. everyone will think you've been working on your golf game for 6 months instead of playing in the desert.
Nope - been back since the 3rd April. Weather's been cloudy, cold, wet, frost MOST nights. Been wearing jeans, so I'm afraid to look, but the tan's PROBABLY gonzo...! Pretty sure D2D is "ON" w/ a pal out of WY, so roughly mid-June to mid-July, but if you're in this area (or Alberta again...), mebbe we can 'hook-up' for a few miles.

Wasn't aware of the road going thru to Tuk..., MAYBE another northern adventure in the works.

PM me when the Chinese finish the pipeline and road, we'll ride that one for sure.

i'm happy to keep ya informed on Canuckistan current events from 6400km away.

i've been up in that area 3 of the past 6 seasons, plus it's 10 days of transit at 1200km/day out and back. i've got some new roads in mind, not quite as good, but way closer.

on your D2D ride, use the Cassier both ways. don't go near the Alcan until the 37 intersection, thank me later.
Dave - I'll thank you NOW!

I've been up the Alcan ALL the way TWICE, part way MANY times, DOWN the Cassiar TWICE, but only ONCE to Inuvik (...till this June... ). I agree on Hwy 37 - that's my plan BOTH ways, including Telegraph Creek (first time) and Stewart/ Hyder (second).

MY thoughts were that THIS coming Dempster ride would PROBABLY be my LAST...

THEN you tell me that the road's going thru to TUK!!!

Oh well....

BTW - want the latest on the Commonwealth...?

in truth, the new bike runs much better overall.
I just saw by the date on that pic that we "did" the Dempster a month after you did, so I just went thru all my Dempster shots to see IF I got the 'same' one. Check these two out - they MIGHT be.

BTW - did you see the "elephant"...? (Check my third pic.) ...around km 220 north of the start of the Dempster.

BTW - check how many "hits" this thread got... about a MILLION!
