Default High exhaust

Anyone done a high exhaust?

I see that JDRocks left his in the standard underslung position and it obviously works just fine for my gravel runner application but I cannot but help thinking that a high one would looks so cool and maybe allow a centre stand.

I already have a PC-V and Autotune so remapping is not an issue. I have a few ideas, but before I go and re-invent the wheel has anyone done it and can offer some pics and ideas on how to do it better next time

Is that the guy in Victoria?
If so I did not see a good pic of the pipe routing, and it is in a KLR frame

Dr AT: "Ron (the owner) did all the modifications and I didn't really quiz him much on it. Everything is custom built and he's usually only interested in doing once of specials rather than churing out more of the same. Suffice to say the forks are out of a husky enduro bike, the shock has been built by joining an MX shock body to the standard shaft, about 20 Kg of "junk" has been removed, and I can't keep up with him down hills (I'm riding a 640 adv)."

yes, a high exhaust has been done on the ER6/Versys framed moto, or at least "higher" depending on your definition, with a particularly good example done on an ER6 rat.

if you just want to move a silencer from under the bike, pick one, then run a new section of connecting pipe from the existing collector. if you're talking about building a new custom exhaust, obviously that's a different animal accompanied with very different issues. the header routing is changed, the collector relocated and raised, new mounting points fabricated and welded in place, the oil pan sectioned, smoothed, rewelded, and the exhaust wrapped where heat may interfere with other engine components. mapping is not an issue.

other than the "cool", i wouldn't even consider big exhaust system mods unless you have already swapped in a big suspension, and then run the bike to determine if you need it.

for every reason i can think of to change the OEM exhaust, there's an offsetting reason to keep it.
