I prefer Sept, Oct, Nov. Chose June because 1. the wife is out of town, she loves to go, but knows she hinders the riding part, so she is ok with this. And 2. the days are longer. Last time we went, Jeff (Goldwing) went with us. He is a very competent rider, but really tight switchbacks like 123, wore him out wrestling that 800 lb pig. He ended up gelling out at rest stops and we rode back in the dark, which sucked (until we let him lead and the Goldwing lit up the night). Still, prefer not to ride in the dark. My plan was to ride through the heat, but in light of things (no V people going), we can work it out to not ride the hottest part of the day. Sat we'll take Jeff down to Push Mtn. and Allison, I'm sure he'll do great, it's the tight switchbacks that beat him up. We'll see how long it takes to get there and what not, and we can plan Sunday around your tastes, still take in Push Mtn. and sit out the heat, fine with me. Maybe leave at 7? I'll call your cell.

I have to work Friday. I am driving to work with the bike loaded in the van and leaving from there. I probably won't get to Branson until after midnight Fri. Honestly, I don't think anyone from this forum is going. It looks like my brother (Guzzi) is going to get off work to go and one of his friends on a Gold Wing, slight chance of one or two others. I think there just aren't many V riders in this area that have found this forum. I wish I would have realized this sooner, I think it would be cool to have a combined V meet with the VStrom people. I actually gave the link to one who said he was going to be in the Mtn Home area that weekend. He wrote back next day and said the trip fell through. I will consider doing a combined meet in the fall though.

I am wondering if you are riding thru Springfield or what time you will be in Branson on Friday? I could ride after work, as the best times for me are early or late due to excessive heat!
I didn't think I had anything on Saturday, but was reminded last Sat. that I have a bicycle training ride on Saturday the 26. I would still like to ride Sunday.

I live in KC. One of my brothers lives here too. We used to ride dirt bikes in Chadwick. I got too busy at work to keep up with the maintenace, etc. My brother bought a '79 Guzzi and restored it (I've seen Guzzis with 200,000 mi on them, his has 30k on the motor, so he plans to keep it awhile). It seemed like a good idea to me too in that after a ride all you need to do to get it ready for the next ride is turn the key. I didn't want to be on the road with all the crazies on something big and cumbersome, so I bought a KLR. Plan was to keep it until Honda finally builds my retirement bike. I got tired of waiting so I went to test ride a BMW GS one day. Just for grins I took a used Ninja 650 out for a test ride also. At first I thought it was no better than the KLR, until I got it above 8 grand rpm. I came back with a huge grin and decided to wait on the GS and maybe look at a V. I bought it used, had 2 bikes for awhile but I don't miss the KLR, I love the V, especially in AR.

Wow, A Haybusa meet, that would be crazy! Anyway, where do you live? You must be nearby to spend so much time in the area. Were you the one who was going to a Guzzi meet in Anderson during the ride I did in May? I am going to try to get some friends to go with me; a Beemer and a Street Glide.
I just don't know a single rider on a V in Springfield. There were two on the forum, but they must have sold or moved or something because I get no replies from messages.

Thanks for the tip on the maps, I am not good with Google or I would have known that. Like I said, I am not worried about where we ride, it's all good. Just looking forward to an actual gathering of more than 2 riders and hope some people show up. Don't be discouraged, I know what you are going thru. My meeting in April flopped, but it really was more than the weather, because we had a rain day planned. People get excited then reality settles in and they bail. I wouldn't worry about a "list" like Pegagus asked for, he was one who bailed early on me. He likes to ride with his wife, and they just got back from Branson, and he didn't even let me know he was down here. He also bailed on the BBB event last year. I could be wrong, but I doubt if he shows. Just my 2 cents.
Good luck and see you next Saturday. By the way, if for some reason I can't make it, I will PM you. I hate it when people post up that they can't make it, because they want to mow their yard or whatever! :)
