I made it wider,thicker and firmer. Is it better ,yes. Is it great ,no. Beats 400.00 for a aftermarket. :D

On this present 3000 mile trip I'm on and putting in 500 mile plus days in, the reshaping of my seat to make it flat front to back really helped, but I see I need to have it a bit softer, not harder.

When I return home later this week, I'm going to try my lamb's wool seat cover to see how it helps.

I removed the seat cover and then put the seat back on the Versys. I did not draw any lines just started grinding with a 4 inch grinder until I got the look I was wanting. I got a piece of closed cell foam from a local shop for free. He also gave me some material to put on top of the foam to smooth it out. I did all the work and it did not cost a dime. :) You will be suprised at how good a small grinder works on cutting down the foam. Just grind and then set on it and repeat until you like what you have done. :thumb:

I have gotten a few good rides in and the seat seems to be getting better. I think it is conforming to my butt. Still would like to try one of the tall gel seats from Kawasaki. I think that someone posted up that Bagster made them. The seats do look nice.

After leveling the seat, I found the shape is very good but the seat is too hard for me. Today I put in a softer foam and I'll be leaving for a 1800 mile trip on Sunday to see how it really works.

Note: Since I'll be fine tuning my seat, I bought a roll of stick-on Velcro and lined the bottom edge of the seat with it and then the outer edge of the cover. After it was stuck on, I used the air stabler to secure it to the seat and a paper stabler to secure it to the cover.

Now I could expose the seat in seconds and put it back on in seconds. Much better than to stable it and then take them all out again to make a change.

The stock seat was way to soft for me. It is neat how people are so different. I used to think soft seats were nice but they tend to get worse as the day goes by. I think you need a seat that feels the same from the time you set down on it until the day is over.
