: FS: Versys Custom Packaged Exhaust Kits (Slip-On)
08 Versys 07-20-2008, 10:33 PM OK, cleaning up the old thread, starting a new one.
I am selling a complete slip-on exhaust setup for the Versys. Look here if you want to see the original thread where I built one, and info on how you can build one yourself.

For those that don't want to go to the trouble of ordering from several places, running around town, cutting the muffler ends, filing, making the tip, etc. I am offering a kit. It consists of
1) Cherry Bomb 87701 Muffler (inlet/outlet pre-cut to proper lengths)
2) Header to Muffler adapter (header portion prefiled to slip on stock header flange.)
3) Two (2) Stainless t-bolt clamps for header to muffler adapter
4) Stainless Muffler strap
5) Custom Made Aluminum Turnout Tip
Complete including shipping anywhere in the 48 states for $135.
If you want the kit with no tip, knock off $20, making it $115 shipped.
Complete kit minus muffler, $95 including shipping in the 48 states.
Complete kit minus muffler and tip, $75 shipped in the 48 states.
Tip alone will be $50 including shipping. I know it's expensive, but it takes a lot of time to make one, and I don't really want to make them unless it's going in with a kit.
If you buy one, right before you go to install it, download the latest copy of the instructions from this post. Also, make sure you actually read through them, and have all the necessary tools and/or extra parts you need before starting the installation. Here are the links to the instructions.

08 Versys 07-30-2008, 06:43 AM Just got another batch of mufflers in yesterday, I'll have a few more kits ready to ship by Friday. Oh, and if you know anyone with a Ninja 650 that wants one, I'll be fitting a kit on one of those this coming Sunday, and taking pics/writing up instructions for them as well. :thumb:
08 Versys 08-03-2008, 02:29 PM Ninja 650 kit fitted today. :D It's almost identical to the Versys kit. Only difference was a bracket I had to add to drop the muffler down about an inch off the stock muffler frame mount. The Ninja kit will be $10 more than the Versys kit due to having to make the extra bracket.

08 Versys 08-07-2008, 07:29 AM OK, I have 3 complete packages left right now. It will probably be another couple of weeks after these are gone before I'm able to make more.
tsunamichop007 08-12-2008, 05:51 PM can you feel any power improvement or is it just for sound? any fuel changes needed?
08 Versys 08-12-2008, 05:58 PM can you feel any power improvement or is it just for sound? any fuel changes needed?
I'm hesitant to say it increases power any. Most of the time when you increase the sound output from an exhaust you will get a feeling you have increased power. No fuel changes required. :thumb:
That being said, I bought a Power Commander III and plan on getting it dyno tuned. That way I can share the map file (for free) and it will be specific for this exhaust. :D

np, and yes you could have it more parallel to the ground if you wanted to fit it that way, up to a certain point. I imagine you could drop it down at least a couple of inches if you wanted to.
rider4C 08-14-2008, 07:48 PM Hi guys. I just built one of 08Versys' systems with exception of not doing the stainless turn out yet - so the exhaust is just running straight out the muffler. My issue is there is a weird resonating sound that bounces off everything when I come to a stop. It feels like it is ringing in my head and you still hear it slightly when riding (but really bad at a stop). Is this normal or could not having the turn out cause this (i would not think so, though). I think I may just have 08Versys make one for me - but any ideas on the sound?
Thanks -
hudsonbay8301@yahoo.com 08-15-2008, 10:39 PM I was wondering how much for just the exhuast tip and how did you hang it? May we see more pictures and there is another company that makes a similar turbo muffler and the part number is 19803 its made by Turbo Tuned Performance Muffler out of TN.

Tip price by itself is in the 1st post. :D It is $50 including shipping anywhere in the 48 states.
Are you asking how the tip is mounted, or how I hung the muffler? Either way, you can download my install instructions and see my notes on either one.
rider4C 08-16-2008, 08:28 AM I am going to try to track down another clamp today and see what happens. I think you may be right. On a side note, did you ever think about the CherryBomb Extreme shorty muffler with dual exits and have two turn outs? I thought about trying it but that muffler was a bit more $$ at $58 bucks. But they are built much better. Just curious - Thanks and I will let you know if this gets rid of the funky reverb : )
08 Versys 08-16-2008, 08:46 AM ...On a side note, did you ever think about the CherryBomb Extreme shorty muffler with dual exits and have two turn outs?...
I don't believe there would be enough room for both turn outs. It's tight enough as it is getting one turn out on it. I think one of the muffler outlets on the dual exit would be pointed straight at the rear tire.
rider4C 08-19-2008, 09:21 PM All right - I think I am going to take a shot at one of your tips. How do I pay for one? Also, where did you find the t-bolt clamps? How much if I buy them from you? I did find the large stainless strap at our local Home Depot and mounted exactly like you with rubber gromet back in place. The resonance has gotten better or my head is getting more used to it : )

08 Versys 08-21-2008, 09:57 PM Got a new shipment of parts/mufflers in today. I should have four more kits ready to go by early next week. :thumb: :thumb:
08 Versys 08-24-2008, 09:32 PM It has been brought to my attention that in some cases, the muffler might be closer to the tire than mine is (I have 1" clearance between the muffler and rear tire.) The person that found this out brought up the fact that it might be due to the chain adjustment, which on a newer bike or chain could have the tire in a more forward position than mine is, therefore have less clearance between the muffler and tire.
If you have bought a muffler kit from me and you don't think you have enough clearance between the muffler and tire, and it is adjusted as far forward as you can get it, send me a PM on here or email me and let me know. You can get some money back for your trouble! 1/2" of clearance should be more than adequate.
You can
1) Cut some length from the adapter pipe to move the muffler forward some (I would recommend cutting no more than 1/2" off of it, you have to watch the clearance of the muffler as you move it forward.) When I get some time I'll see what the maximum is you should be able to safely cut.
2) Send me the adapter pipe and I will cut it for you if you don't have the means to do it yourself. In that case let me know how much clearance you had so I can cut it correctly.
If this needs done to yours, and you send me a few good pictures of the assembly showing the adapter pipe and muffler installed, the clearance between the muffler and the tire, AND a picture of the markers on your rear swingarm used for chain adjustment (showing yours as it currently is), I will refund you $10 of your purchase price. This is even if you cut the adapter pipe yourself.
BayouVersys 10-15-2008, 11:14 AM I'd like to buy one of your systems if your still making them. My email address in my profile is good.
Finally installed....Wow!
Dr.Das 04-06-2009, 04:25 PM Anyone ever find a different tip to fit the cherry bomb?
danomar 04-07-2009, 12:21 PM I started to think the stock muffler is a counterweight to the fuel in the mass centralization setup where other bikes would add pounds to the motor to acheive the "cancelling effect" of a 5 gallon tank... Just curious as I have been salivating at a dual muffler setup for a while.
If anything, my Versys seemed a slight bit more agile with the Cherry Bomb setup. I have observed no ill effects whatsoever.
Bear in mind that, depending on chassis configuration, low CG is not necessarily desirable. For example, for many years Ducati kept the CG of their SuperSports bikes relatively high in comparison to other bike manufacturers. This higher CG allowed easier turn-in in conjunction with somewhat slow, stable steering geometry. It also reduced the need for riders to move about (i.e. hang off) to get the same degree of turn-in angle.
The Versys is a light bike, and the centralized, low stock muffler disguises its weight. Removing that weight should only make the bike lighter, no less stable.
gti20vturbo 04-17-2009, 01:50 PM Are these still for sale?
the dane 06-24-2009, 02:53 PM hey.... is it posible to nuy one of these and having it sent to europe / denmark? Price?
Red Herring 06-24-2009, 06:18 PM I don't think they are available any more. IIRC, 08Versys is long gone.
Shatrat 06-24-2009, 07:13 PM Welcome to the forums.
It's not too hard to put your own kit together.
The hardest bit is finding a good looking tip.

rider4C 06-24-2009, 09:35 PM Hey guys - if any one is looking for one, I want to sell mine. I got it through 08Versys here last year and have about 300 miles on it. It is like new and a really nice slip on alternative to keep a stock look. I am about to order the Arrow full system with PCIII. I would like to get about $85 for it plus shipping.
