Hello! I'm new to the group and have had my Versys since January. Today I took it to the VA hospital in Wilkes-Barre, PA o I-81. At 70 mph it ran at 5,000 rpm and with just a twist of the throttle would jump up to 80-85 without a hint of even slowing down. It was windy as hell on the highway today and wasn't a fun ride. I have to adjust the rear shock as it's just to stiff for them big bumps in the pavement on I-81. It knocks you right out of your place in the seat. There are no smooth roads here in NE PA. I put 160 miles on the Versys today in upper 30's weather.

Welcome to the forum, Jim! It sounds like your weather and general road condtions are a lot like mine here in the Shawnee National Forest in southern Illinois. I'm going to be running my new Versys (to be delivered in about a week) with Pirelli Corsa MT60 dualsport tires, since I live in the middle of a big web of gravel, dirt, oil-and-chip and potholed pavement roads. I don't mind riding in the cold, but I'm not real happy on windy days . . . especially on a tall bike (like my current KLR or its new relative, the Versys). In my brain, I know all about gyroscopic effects and staying relaxed and all that stuff that can get you through all but highest winds . . . but my guts and heart scream "OH S**T!" every time a punchy gust pops me close to centerline as I approach an oncoming 18-wheeler!

Looking forward to hearing more about your rides!

Peace,
Kevin
