I have been looking and looking for some riding jeans, kevlar reinforced. I found Shifts web site and they have the best prices yet. I was wondering if anyone here has ever had them and have an opinion on fit?

Thanks for the link. But i was hoping for people on this site that may have gotten them to give an opinion. I have to buy pants too large for me. My butt and legs dont fit into my waist size. Im a 32-33 waist, but so i have room in my crotch, legs and butt i need to buy a 36 waist.

You might like the Cortech DSX Denim Pants

I got them & really liked them but ended up returning them because apparently I’m built just the opposite of you. The 34” waist fit me ok but the butt & legs were too big on me for my taste. Not really super baggy but sort of what they call a “relaxed fit”.

FWIW they also make a Cortech DSX Denim Jacket which I have and LOVE! It’s very comfortable, usable from 50 to 90 degrees (with appropriate under layers and/or included liner) and has good elbow, shoulder & back armor and IMO looks great.

I'm very happy with my Kevlar Khakis from CompAcc.$80 to $90. Soft, comfortable, with lots of Kevlar where you need it.

I have these. They have no Kevlar underlay on the hips and fit is only so so. Diamond Gusset Motorcycle jeans get a lot of positive reviews on motorcycle sites although I have never seen them. I use Icon Field Armor knee/shin guards underneath for additional protection.

I wear the Shift kevlar pants. I have the same issue with legs, because I am a runner. I wear a loose 36 inch waist, that I have to tighten-up with a belt. The legs and butt have plenty of room. However, the waist is low, which tightens-up the crouch. I think Shift does this so the pants will stay in-place to protect the butt. All in all, I like them. Very good looking and cool on a hot summer day.

I have the Draggin jeans liners that I bought with the optional armor - basically kevlar long johns. The armor is a joke as it will not attach securely and falls off plus it is just little pieces of flexible plastic/rubber.

When I wear motorcycle jeans I always wear my Icon FieldArmor knee/shin pads underneath.

I know they use CE 1 Armor (basic) but I don't think the jeans themselves are CE approved. Their website does not say anything about this and I am not aware of any other gear that is CE approved.

Draggin Jeans have a new sock style Knee Protector which is made by Knox which is so much better than the old velcro style protection, i wont ride without them now.

Sorry, no experience with Shift gear. :(
But I have a pair of Diamond Gusset jeans. These are specific moto-jeans with the kevlar panels. They fit great, and very comfortable (my boys don't get squeezed at any time ) on the moto, and have a thicker than usual jean material. The ordering process is a bit funky, but the personnel then sort through their piles and find one exactly your dimensions, which is not really the standard 32X36 that Levis come in.

That said, there are three points that I want to make here:
1) If you're looking for good looks while off the bike, well, the cut is for comfort while on the bike. Therefore no plumber cracks will appear while riding. On the other hand, because of this type of cut (extra gusset in the crotch), your butt may look a bit saggy while off and walking. :o
2) They are a bit pricey for most folks, when compared to Levis/Lees.
3) They have kevlar all over the place, so abrasion resistance is great, but there is no armor for the impact events. I end up wearing Bohn pants underneath. This works, but will add heat to the whole setup. YMMV.

I saw a review of the shift jeans you are talking about several years ago in a magazine. I'll try to find it and pass it along if I can. he review said only positives things about the jeans. I currently have a SHIFT Airborne mesh jacket for warm weather riding and really love it. It is likely I'll buy another in a year or so.
