: LSL Kawasaki Versys Frame Sliders
RidersDiscount 04-16-2010, 09:29 AM We like LSL frame sliders for their modular nature and simple installation. The recently redesigned crash pads do a better job of absorbing and dissipating crash energy than the previous model while giving it a look that separates them from other frame sliders on the market. The rounded edges of the plastic slider inserts reduce the chances of the slider hooking as it rolls over the ground, theoretically reducing the amount of damage your bike may experience. A light crash may only require the replacement of the plastic inserts. For more serious damage, crash pads are available separately from the mounting bases, negating the need to buy a completely new setup. The crash pads come in a myriad of colors, from solid black to chrome to carbon-look.
LSL’s frame slider kits are comprised of CNC-machined brackets and high-quality hardware. Simple to follow instructions are also included with every kit.
While the primary goal of these frame sliders is to prevent the frame itself from coming into contact with the ground, reducing the likelihood of a very expensive crash repair, they also reduce the amount of damage that would have otherwise occurred to bodywork and engine cases.
Available for the following Kawasaki models:
ER6f 09 and up
ER6n 05 and up
Versys 08 and up
These are not yet on our website, call MIKE at 866.931.6644 ext 804. If you have any questions about availability – send an email to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM with the subject LSL and please include the year and model of the motorcycle you’re riding for accurate availability.

weljo2001 04-16-2010, 10:43 AM Could you post a photo with them on a bike.
If you search for SW Motech crashbars and find a thread by me, there are pictures of these (with green sliders) on my bike. I replaced the SW Motech bars with these.
weljo2001 04-16-2010, 02:01 PM Cool thanks, Do you like them better than the crash bars. I'm wanting something that will do the job without going the crash bar route
The crash bars created an annoying buzz for me, not a huge buzz, just a buzz that was different and annoying. Some folks get that and some don't (I have had 20-30 bikes over 39 years, so I'm used to bikes and it wasn't normal). The bars in all likelihood provide better protection, but the sliders provide some protection (and, at some point nothing would help). So, I'm very happy with my decision. The LSL's are very well made, by the way.
weljo2001 04-16-2010, 02:44 PM Thanks, I'm not a fan of how the crash bars look. I know they serve a purpose.but i think i'll go with the sliders. Hell i have plenty of insurance any ways.
kimel 04-17-2010, 07:38 PM Here's the thread with the pics Sike mentioned.

TommyLee 08-10-2010, 02:58 PM I ordered these from Riders Discount and had to return them. They don't fit the 2010 Kawasaki Versys California Edition. The R/H side is fine, however the L/H side doesn't work at all. Just a heads up for anyone else looking at these for a 2010 Versys that's here in Caly.
So far, I haven't been able to find any kind of drop protection for the 2010 Kawasaki Versys California Edition:
LSL Frame Sliders do not fit.
Givi TN422 Engine Guards do not fit.
SW-Motech's Engine Guards do not fit.
Hepco & Becker Engine Guards do not fit.
If anyone has found, or finds any kind of drop protection that works on the 2010 Kawasaki Versys California Edition, ...please let the rest of us know!

Price for a 2010 in Black?
potus2012 11-13-2010, 04:45 PM Anyone had the misfortune of op-testing these on a Versys yet? I would hate to protect the frame at the expense of an engine case. What exactly do they bolt to, and what parts do they protect?

Pismocycleguy 09-20-2011, 09:52 AM Why the secret pricing? Does it vary by purchaser? Don't you have one price for all customers? Why not state your price on the forum?:topsecret:
Just weird and curious!:interesting:
RidersDiscount 09-20-2011, 10:42 AM Good question! Most of the brands that we carry actually require that we only advertise retail prices.
PM's sent, thanks!
Pismocycleguy 09-20-2011, 10:09 PM Johnnie,
I got your PM, but I didn't see any price for the sliders. I guess you can't even PM me the selling price of this item. Do I have to ride into your store to actually find the selling price?:interesting:
How about posting the installation instruction sheet and diagram so we can see (and read) the ease, or difficulty, of installing your product.
RidersDiscount 09-21-2011, 09:07 AM Sorry about that. I didn't see that you were asking for pricing, just asking why we didn't list the price. :o Another PM is on the way.
A member here actually did an install write up with photos back in February. You can find it here (http://www.kawasakiversys.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14166).

I have them on my 2011 Versys and this weekend did a 760 mile loop. I can confirm that these frame sliders are great for altering your foot/leg position...
You can (1) hook your feet on them in a fairly secure manner... and/or you can (2) extend your legs fully forward and rest them on the sliders.
My sliders made a difference for me this weekend.

Do you have the evap canister on the left side (California Edition Versys)? I would like to confirm that the sliders fit. A photo of them installed on the left side will confirm!
Thanks!

Any news from Germany?
RidersDiscount 03-27-2012, 08:41 AM Any news from Germany?
Nothing yet, I am going to fire another email over there...
genehil 03-28-2012, 07:01 PM I got a PM from another member asking about the LSL sliders I got from RidersDiscount for my (non-California) 2011 V. He thought maybe my responses to his questions might be of interest to others on this thread... So here they are:
1. Did you order the sliders for 2008/2009 Versys? That's the only kit I find out there, which is why everyone is gunshy about 2010 on.
Here's a website that has a photo of that kit:
http://www.spieglerusa.com/frame-slider-mounting-kit-2525.htm
No. I contacted Mike by PM and we set up an email conversation. I told him I needed sliders for a 2011 Versys and he set it all up. I paid using Paypal.
2. Does the photo there seem to match up to what you found on your 2011?
Pretty much. That same picture is on page one of the thread... Along with the left side and they look like they match my photos.
3. Did you need to change any parts like bolts because of non-compatible bolt lengths or sizes, etc?
The kit shipped with replacement bolts that are needed to install it... All of them. Nothing extra to purchase. The sliders are mounted to the front engine mounting bolts... So longer bolts are needed and supplied.
The thread seems to be waiting for word from Germany, but if you've found that the 2008/9 kit just fits the 2011, well, it's going to fit the 2010 and 2012 too. I'd love to order the sliders for my 2010, but don't want to get into fitment hassles...and it's just not 100% clear right now.
My best advice is to contact Mike by PM giving him your email address and tell him what you're looking for. Good luck!

The question is not if they will fit the 2010-2012 because it will, but will they fit the California edition Versys with the evap canister on the port side (which I have)?

Capn... The other member's questions were not in reference to the California version Versys... However because the LSL sliders I have installed on my V mount below the frame bar within the red oval on your picture above I would hazard a guess that they would fit just fine.
I'd maybe coordinate with Mike and see if he'll sell and ship you a set to verify fit on your V... And if they don't fit ship them back for refund.
Capn Kirk 03-29-2012, 04:42 AM Capn... The other member's questions were not in reference to the California version Versys...
I got a PM from another member... The thread seems to be waiting for word from Germany,
He may not have a California edition, but this is the reason I am waiting for a reply from the manufacturer. This dang evap canister seems to just get in the way or at least make difficult to install engine guards & such. This is the reason I am waiting for word. I don;t like to buy things and then have to deal with credits, debits, return shipping etc.
Thanks for the info though!

First off, thanks guys for the feedback. Secondly, I just got off the phone and did verify that this will NOT work for the California edition from LSL in Germany. They also seemed to think the 2010-2012 would only work on the European version but I told him one of the members had installed on a 2011 US version and he appreciated the feedback. Thanks for the input on this guys, so the fitment should be correct all the way through minus the California edition because of the evap canister.
genehil 03-29-2012, 09:02 AM Apparently while I was writing this entry, Mike posted LSL Germany's response to the California question... Just in case LSL Germany doesn't actually have a California version on hand to check... here is my original (this morning's) post:
----------------------
Capn... Here are some different pictures of my non-California install that might clarify things for you.
I'm not certain exactly how much acreage the evap canister on your V takes up... but you might get a better idea if the LSL Sliders will fit by these additional shots.

Hope this helps.
genehil 03-29-2012, 09:44 AM Capn - I'm no LSL Engineer (Although my last name is German)... I'm just a Versys owner... but it looks to me like the only difference between the frame of my Versys and the frame of your California Versys on the port side is the addition of two small tabs (both of which are above the bottom frame tube) on which to mount the evaporation canister.
My 2011 Versys' port side LSL Slider mounts to a tab on the underside of the bottom frame tube - way up near the front - far away from where I suppose the evap canister sits. It's where the left engine mount connects to the frame of my V.

We have found it working with most for 08-12 models besides a 2010 California model (which is still up for debate). Not sure why it wouldn't work for an 07. Sending a PM now.

Thanks for the comment!
Landon 05-14-2012, 02:10 PM Anyone running these and doubling their use as a hiway peg? Just wondering how they work just to let you stretch your legs for a few minutes and change positions on the bike? I am not looking to run with feet up on them all day, just for a five minute break or so.

I use mine for exactly that purpose... You can latch your boots onto them for a change of pace and/or you can extend your legs forward and rest the back of your calf/ankle on them for a few minutes. Another inch in length would not be unwelcomed... but they are a suitable "quick fix" for changing things up. I don't like the look of highway pegs on any bike... but I certainly do understand their value. These LSL Sliders are a suitable substitute for a few minutes at a time - for me, anyway.

Could you send pm on blue 09 please?
RidersDiscount 05-15-2012, 08:50 AM PM sent, thanks.
Landon 05-17-2012, 08:27 PM Mine were in the mailbox when I got home from work. Pretty simple install. I did find the first line of the instructions to be funny..."If you not a mechanic stop now and take to a mechanic", it wasn't that difficult!
