My girlfriend and I went to my parents house Saturday to wish my dad a happy birthday. It was a great day for a 110 mile round trip on the V. WELL, when we got there i looked back at the bags, and guess what, one of them had slipped a little and had a decent sized hole rubbed into it from the back tire. Great, why didnt i stop ever to check them? Im dumb. I did smell something towards the end of our first leg, but figured it was the car in front of me. I need to learn to trust my nose. Well the back tire is fine, no issues there. The right hand bag is kinda screwed. Its a good thing my mother is a semstress, she has the bags and is going to patch the mangled one. Needless to say, i should have stopped a couple times to make sure everything was ok.
I obviously need to figure out a better way to place them so they wont move. Any suggestions?

Do you have any pics of how you had the bags on the bike?
I don't think there's any way my soft bags could sag that much.

Good plan ....we will definately need to see pics of your girlfriend to solve this problem ............;) .
Seriously though , perhaps her legs or hand placement were putting pressure on the bags in someway . Are these the throw over soft bags ??? Not much we can do from here other than suggest a better strapdown procedure ( or expensive hard bags ) .......good luck bro .

Yeah, no photos yet, sorry guys. And I think it did slip somehow, they were in a good spot when we started. And wether the gf wants to admit it or not I think she pushed it down.

were the straps on top of the seat or under the seat? i haven't used them on the versys yet, but i've always latched the saddle on top of the straps for other bikes. minor PITA to do it, but they are pretty stable that way. also, be sure the balance the weight left-to-right.

How do you attach the 2 main velcro straps?
I attach mine under the seat and make sure they are tight. I can't imagine them slipping. Also don't attach the small clip straps on the sides very tight. Just snug....All they do is keep the bags from flopping around in the wind. Maybe you had them really tight and it pulled the bags down?
I do grocery runs with my saddlebags and wife on the back every week. Bags always overloaded and never had one slip. Although one is starting to tear at the top...probably too much weight.
