An Alpinestars classic re-designed for better protection and greater comfort. The S-MX R motorcycle boot has an internal shank for rigidity yet doesn’t compromise feel through the pegs. With a tough thermoplastic polyurethane shin wrap integrated with flexible gussets, the boot can accommodate those of you with big calves.

The boots are available in two versions: non-vented (though it does have a few perforations for cooling) and fully-ventilated. The latter, while only available in black, has a perforated Lorica upper covering to let the breeze in and keep the post-ride stink out of your closet or gear bag. Standard Alpinestars toe-sliders are easily replaceable for those of you that tend to drag feet in the corners.

Just unbuckle, unzip and put your foot in, no inner-boot system here, just simple, functional utility with loads of protection.

Call TJ at 866.931.6644 ext 817 – he’ll get you a pair in black, black vented, black/white, black/red, or blue/silver. If email is your bag, send a note to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM with ALPINESTARS SMXR in the subject and we’ll ship your boots fast!

Tough soles stand up better than most boots to the more abrasive aftermarket footpegs.

The expansion gusset at the top has an inner Velcro “set strap” so you can set your calf diameter and forget it. There’s even a hidden medial malleolus protector built in, something not all motorcycle boots have.

Plenty of ventilation here and this is the non-vented version.

Vented in the foreground, non-vented in the background.

Even the calf buckle is well-protected so it doesn’t sheer off in a crash.

Should I assume your feet will get quite wet when it rains....how about a picture with the boots opened up for drying....or do they open up! Just wondering....

Ron,

I have used the SMX-R boots in the rain and the feet did get damp but definitely not soaking wet. Let me see if we can get you a picture of the insides as well.

Thank-you. I did have a look at some boots like this today at my local shop...very nice all around I'd say... but I didn't try them on because....it turned out they arn't quite what I was looking for.... afterall. I find that the toe hight of most boots I've seen is too high(thick)for my likeing...if my toe is always under the shift lever I'de like to be as comfortable as possible...something a little thinner...thogh I'm sure less durable would be more appropriate for me....Thanks for the pics and the heads-up on these now...They are on my radar at least!

Ron,

Take a look at the Alpinestars Supertech R's. They are little thinner at the toe if that is a concern.

Now excuse my ignorance here.. I 'm new to riding and riding boots.... i noticed the bottom of the sole at the toe is lipped...is that where i should be placing the boot onto the shift lever for upshifting or will that cause mis-shifts?

I'm not exactly sure what part you mean. What I can say is that some guys like to cram their foots all the way up under the shifter left and others get it done with just the tips of their toes. Whatever you're most comfortable with is the way to go, provided you're not missing shifts all the time. :)

ps. I dig the Avro Arrow in your avatar.
