I have a V with 11k miles. Perfect shape. I met a person that would consider a trade for his '04 Tiger with 18k. I haven't seen it in person, yet (tomorrow).
Pictures look very nice.
Opinions from this august gathering? What do I look out for?

Euro bikes. Beware of repairs/parts costs.

I agree euro stuff is very expensive to repair and I don't think you can bet Japanese Engines for reliability, although the Tiger would be a little more refined in general.

I was hoping to find someone with experience with BOTH.

I haven't ridden a Tiger, but I did look at a couple before buying my V. It's a much bigger bike; much bigger engine, looks taller, heavier, etc. It's much more like a BMW GS. They are also more dirt oriented that the V, I think.

The Triumphs are great bikes, and not prone to excessive maintenance problems that I know of, but parts and service are more expensive for sure, and harder to find. If you're planning to travel a lot, that's worth taking into account. Wherever you break down, it's sure to be closer to a Kawi dealer than a Triumph dealer...

I got a nice v and also a 07 tiger in the stable. I like the bikes for what they are. I seem to ride the v more around on shorter trips. The tiger is nice on longer trips and it is heavier.
For real long trips I like my st1300. My little v with the full arrow and the pc111 and the penski shock and racetech front end is a hell or a bike. My old race buddy came to visit this august and my v impressed him on his 900 duc. He kept want to ride the v, however, the duc was just too tight for me,

Hell, just keep both you will enjoy what I mean.

I would hold off for the newer completely revamped Tiger. The simplicity of maintenance of the V cannot be discounted or overstated .

I have both...DO NOT make this trade....unless you're 6'2" and 250...then do it. El Tigre es mucho gordo, comprende? The Triumph is a quality piece and has been very reliable over 40k, better fit and finish than the V, but it's a handful on the gravel.

The guy came to his senses (or I just misunderstood him) and he no longer wants to trade. WHEW! That was close...
I recently bought an older 1200gs and I think the V and "the big guy"will be all that I need.
Has anyone found any good offroad tires for the V?
