A Black V owner here in Atlantic Canada, and thought I would say hello... For us, suffering from the winter blues, spring will be here shortly, along with some great riding. I keep telling myself that. :D

Just a few words on my Versys.

Picked it up late September of 07... Had to do some mods for the buzzing noises at 3k.. ARG....

Added over the winter:

Ermax Hugger
Powerbronze Crash Posts(hoping to never use them) :)
Vario Windshield
Rear Lift Posts
Joe Rocket Softbags(loaner)

If anyone is interested in touring Newfoundland and Labrador(My home province), check out http://www.ridetherock.com

I got my V last year and really enjoyed it. My one annoyance was the vibration around 3K. The dealer said they all did it. What did you do fix it?

Cheers

I hear reports of the 3K Buzz and my bike has it. What is the problem?
I've isloated it to the faring, is there any easy fix?

All the infamous 3k buzz... Yep, well known in Europe, and Canada. Although Kawasaki Canada denies that it exists, even the technote unfortunately.

Probably the best place that I can send you is here...

In my Gallery on this site, I've posted some pics from my Fix... Removed the plastics, and then inserted some weather stripping underneath the cowling, and wala, buzz be gone.

It's pretty simple to correct.... Enjoy, it's a great bike...

Here is one more reference I found on the buzz. I'll try this.

okay here is what I did and now the bike is quiet. I have not truely road tested (around the hood only), so I'll let you know if the buzz comes back.

1) Remove windsheild
2) Remove both red side panels to faring
3) Remove the black surround for the tach/speedo
4) 30 minute break to visit lowes home improvement to purchase 3/8" rubber washers and black automotive/boat weather stripping
5) I placed a strip of weather stripping under the flange for the tach surround.
6) At every connection point for the tach surround I placed a rubber washer, under the 4 plastic clips and under the places where faring screws attach (i think it was 6 total).
7) put it all back together.

Took me 1 hour total including trip to lowes at a cost of $7.00. I used 1" of a roll of weatherstripping, I just couldn't find anything laying around and my duct tape was missing :-)

Less time than taking it to the dealer and waiting around, for "I don't hear anything".
