curious if anyone have these boots ?

i need a waterproof boot, and would like a 3/4 height, since i wear knee/shin gaurds.

thought they might work good in cooler weather with wool socks.

I have the taller ones. I bought them on sale a few weeks ago. They are comfortable in cool weather. I wore them once while it was still hot and my feet sweated. I haven't worn them in the rain. I went with a half size larger than I use with regular shoes. Wool socks fit fine inside them.

I am not familiar with this particular AS model but I own the Sidi Doha (similar type riding shoe) as well as regular height Sidi boots. Riding shoes are a compromise, they provide basic foot and ankle prortection but won't give you the ultimate protection of a full boot in situations where the bike falls on your leg when you low slide or debree gets kicked up onto your shin, etc..

If you don't have a need to wear your boots around all day just get regular height boots. They will give you a lot more protection for only a little more money, will look the same as these under jeans, will be just as cool in hot weather, and will give you the option of wearing racing leathers ( need to be tucked in your boot top ). New Enough has/had Sidi boots on sale.

I wear the Ridge Boots would buy them again, they were comfy enough to walk around in but not all day. I ride everyday the boots have kept my feet dry in heavy rain. They are warm in the cold weather when it is 90 outside they are a bit warm but what boot wouldn't be. They are easy on off. No serious complaints

I can't speak for the boots but my experience with Alpinestars gear is that their quality is really good. The only thing you might have to worry about with Alpinestars is that their sizing seems to be all over the place. I wear XXL pants (with a 34" waist) and a medium jacket. Again, I don't know about their boots but it would help if you could try them on first.

Some of the European boots have a Sympatex membrane (my Triumph boots do). It's like Gore Tex but different technology. Some people claim that Sympatex is better than Gore Tex.

Don't have those AStar boots, but do have their Octane riding shoes. Took about 2 days to break them in and now they are all day comfortable to wear to work. I use them only for commuting in cooler weather, as I have TCX X-Squared boots for warm weather commuting and TCX Synergy full boots for more "spirited" riding on the weekend!:D Sizing was normal shoe size and I picked them up from New Enough for a competitive price...

I have worn the ridge boots for about 3 years now, and am about to get another pair.

The are waterproof, so if you do not protect the top of them with waterproof pants, they will fill up with water.

They are comfortable for all day wear.

They are not too hot in the summer, and are adequately warm for winter riding.
I always wear moister wicking socks when I ride (cold or hot). So my feet stay dry no matter what the temp may be.
