The Honda crotch rocket rider was traveling at approximately
85 mph. The VW driver was talking on a cell phone when she
pulled out from a side street, apparently not seeing the
motorcycle. The riders reaction time was not sufficient
enough to avoid this accident. The car had two passengers
and the bike rider was found INSIDE the car with them. The Volkswagen actually flipped over from the force of impact
and landed 20 feet from where the collision took place.
All three involved (two in the car and the bike rider) were
killed instantly. This graphic demonstration was placed at
the Motorcycle Fair by the Police and Road Safety
Department.
Pass this on to car drivers or soon to be
new drivers, or new motorcycle owners AND ESPECIALLY EVERYONE YOU KNOW WHO HAS A CELL PHONE!!!!!

Good reminder. As we were taught in the MSF course - a motorcycle accident is a combination of mistakes - never one single thing.

First mistake - excessive speed by the motorcycle.
2nd mistake - the MC rider did not plan an escape path
3rd mistake - ride like you are invisible - anticipate people pulling out.
4th mistake - Driver was distracted and pulled out.

The car driver is to blame for this accident - no question about it. But riding defensively helps keep you alive. The rider in this accident was right - but he is dead right.

Based on that description of the story a stupid motorcyclist killed two innocent people in a car. They had no way of knowing he was going 155 mph. So they assumed he was traveling at a normal rate of speed and they had time to avoid him.

I tend to agree.

Also, with the bike doing 155mph, the person driving the car probably looked, saw nothing, pulled out and WHAM!

The bike was probably pretty far away to even be seen or considered a threat when the person DECIDED to pull out.

Yep, those pics have been around for awhile. I've seen them with various stories over the past few years. They've even been part of safety briefings at work...

This photo has been circulating for a few years now. I'd like to know the real story. I find it hard to believe that they could extract the car passengers and the rider without cutting the roof off of the car.

From the looks of that car they used a shop vac. I can't imagine much of anything left of passengers or motorcyclist after something like that.

I suspect that the story has been through it's Internet paces and has very little of the "Truth" left. More than likely it was a car hit by a train and they shoved a destroyed motorcycle into it to prove some rediculous anti-motorcycle point.

Hitting a car at 155 MPH with a motorcycle. No explosion. No fire. No blood (in the picture) and terms like "Crotch Rocket" used.

I call BS.

I've seen this one before too, and wondered whether they just didn't "Launch" a cycle into the car to see what would happen. Car looks way toooooo clean to have three bodies in it!

If this incident happened in Europe, he may have been traveling at 155 kph, which equates to about 96 mph.

Ya know this is not the worst thing today. My sister is one of the people that text or talk on the phone while driving. It pi$$es me off to no extend so does my friend. It is not fun, funny, enjoyable, safe or anything to talk nor to text while driving. PERIOD

In 07, I was riding with a co-worker to lunch over in West Memphis and on I-40 at 75mph, he pulls his Blackberry off his hip to see who paged him and then I see his thumb start tap-tap-tapping away... One hand on the throttle , one hand on the Blackberry. Amazing. Funnier still is that he tells me all the time "you're gonna hurt yourself on that crotch rocket".
