Buddy has an '08 (looks like the picture, so I figure it's the same model...?), and we've 'traded' on rides. Lots of power, but other than that I MUCH prefer the "V".

The 796 version just came out last month, the 1000 has been out for a couple of years. "Hypermotard' is Ducatis naming of their model, it's not really a super motard, but I guess in a sense it could be. Super motards came from the streeting of a dirt bike. The new 796 has 3 color options, red, white, and black. All are the ultimate sexy wheels.

I fell in love with the 796 at the cycle show last month but decided it was more bike and more $$ than I needed or wanted. Was going to cost closer to eleven grand out the door compared to the versys I got for under seven.

The other bike I really considered was the Street Triple. Again, more money and more bike than I wanted. They are a very nice machine as well, especially the R model with the flat paint, custom seat, and other goodies.

I also had concerns about the cost of keeping a Ducati running. Although they have improved their maintenance longevity, they are still going to be a lot more than a kawi, and insurance was several hundred a year more as well.

They're gorgeous and all, but Ducks just come with too much baggage to make them a real choice for me. Besides, nearly everyone who asks me "What's a Moto Bones?" says they thought it was a Ducati.

I know a guy who puts serious miles on one as a sport tourer.
It does better than 100 miles, although not by much.
It's also been very reliable in the time he's had it, although it does need valve checks much more frequently than our Versys.
It's also pretty comfortable according to him, and hes no kid.

I definitely wouldn't mind having one if I had a garage to keep it safe from the weather in.

If you like Duc Hypermotard then you have to consider Aprilia Dorsoduro as well.
Dorso is an awesome bike, maybe even better than Duc. Besides that you would save some serious coin compared to Duc.
For me that is a no brainer.

45 ft-lbs of torque to 70 ft-lbs of torque is what we're talking from the V to the Hyper. The Hyper isn't really a practical bike, its a fun bike. And 70 ft-lbs of torque makes it pretty fun. :D

Personally I think the Versys will outrun the Ducati. Why? because I will keep my drivers License with the Versys, Therefore I will still be driving it in six months.

I'm debating between a V and a Mutilstrada....in another thread.
