Should've bought a 200 HP Ducati Desmosedici RR for my non-existent street fighting; a fully loaded Honda Goldwing for my occaisional touring, in addition to a KLR for my never to be acheived trips down the Baja. Instead I'm stuck with this great little daily driver( 40mi./day, half xway) that suites my needs just fine.

So, with my new found $150,000 or so savings I'd like a couple easy mods or farkels that will add to my enjoyment. So far have added grip puppies, speedy mirror extenders and flatfoot. All of which were near essentials IMHO.

I'd like to do everything I see on the Forum but if you had to do/buy one or two relatively inexpensive things, what would they be?

43 T is the best (and only mod) I have done, never looked back. The biggest
complaint I hear is the seat, but I just rode 200 miles yesterday, not a bit sore.
Hey, you could sell one of your other bikes and do anything and everything to your V!

Put a 1/4 inch spacer either under the front of the windshield backet where it mounts to the cowling subframe or between the bottom windshield bolt and the bracket. Lays the screen back just enough to get rid of most of the buffeting.

I feel your pain :) the only way I can see you getting out of your predicament is to ride the bike every day, thrash it to within an inch of its life and wear the fecker out so you can then go and get the bike you really really need.:D

personally I'd add a hugger to reduce the amount of crud being flung off the rear wheel onto the bike. it also stops crud being flung onto the rectifier which has had problems, certainly on the early bike.

Always carry a 12v pump and plug kit (under the seat) and a prop-stand to lube the chain.

Bike now weighs as much as a Goldwing and Ducati combined, but does more than both!

This little machine does everything I need it to. Two up touring, one up camping, great in the twisties, great mpg, comfortable, produces the least heat on 100+ days of any bike I've ever had and it looks COOL!!

What more could you want.

What's this? You have a new-and-improved version that works with spools/bobbins? Where do I put my order in for that new attachment head? ;)

You get what you pay for! This is the mark 2 version that fits all sizes of bobbins. I'll make another one up if I remember.

Better make two.

Mac, you're busted. Serves you right for showing off the Mark 2 design without letting us know it was in development. Now you better get back to the garage and start working... :D

machog, I've purchased a Vista Throttle lock and was wondering if you had to cut your grip any...I couldn't tell from your pic. In the directions it shows diagram of cutting the grip on the inside to accomodate the lock. Thanks for your help.

machog, also on your sheepskin is that the delux or the $35 model? I'm planning a 1500mi trip to western carolina/east tn. in a couple of weeks and was going to order one...didn't know it the xtra $$ for the delux is worth it.

FWIW I added a plastic throttle palm rocker and took it back off after only 2 days. The bike is so light that as the bike bounces on Michigan roads, my hand moves way too much, giving me a throttle that moves way too much also. This is because of the extended leverage of the palm rocker.

Also, even though I hate to let the cat out of the bag early, I've been working on highway peg brackets mounted in a comfortable position without the obviously unnecessary (and expensive) engine guard. I say this about the engine guard because my bike was wind-blown over on the right side and the engine was not anywhere near the impact points. I'll be starting a new thread after the polishing and powder coating of the 2-point mounting brackets is complete. They are pretty raw right now and still blend into the bike astonishingly well.
