: Anyone changed their windscreen?
Enemy Zero 03-11-2008, 05:36 PM I've been looking around for a larger windscreen and a few things I've read have said that the Givi is top notch.
I wondered if any one here has changed theirs out and had any experiences or recommendations to share.
I put the Kawasaki factory wider/taller one on. It seems much better, but I haven't ridden it far enough yet for a good test.
Okanagan Rider14 03-24-2008, 07:05 PM I put the Kawi factory one one and it has made a big difference. It's still not perfect for me since I'm 6'4" but it certainly helped. Since reading the posts in here, I might look at the Givi. I need to measure the factory one to compare but can't until my bike gets out of the shop. Its getting it's spring maintenance.
goobiwan 03-24-2008, 09:05 PM For myself, I purchased the Vario windscreen. Adjustable, but it's a look that you need to be comfortable with. I'm awaiting the snow to go, so I can test and provide some real road feedback. I'm 5'11, and from what I've read, I should be very happy.

goobiwan 03-24-2008, 09:07 PM It's much larger than the stock windsheild. You may notice that it wasen't fully attached, for these pics, but it's fully attached now.
timmsumm 04-08-2008, 01:01 AM Hi, I've got the Givi D405ST windscreen as shown below. Once I found the correct height it is perfect for me. I found the lowest setting to be the best for least buffeting. I'm 5'11" and somewhat of a "widebody". I find that the added width of the Givi does a great job of shielding my body as well as my hands.

After riding more with the factory higher/wider windshield...it's perfect for me, i'm 5'10". I don't need one any higher.
StonedGP 05-12-2008, 07:33 AM I ordered the GIVI. Just checked the tracking #, be here tomorrow.YEAH!! I'll post my findings soon. BTW, picked up a set of Cortech sport soft saddlebags at a swap meet. The guy that was selling them only mounted them once. They weren't big enough for him. They look brand new. I got em' for $50. They go for $129 new. Very lucky for me.
Hankles 05-12-2008, 08:52 AM I bought the GIVI, but I'm still playing around with the different heights. It is better than the short stock screen. I wish I would have tried the CalSci first. I hear people are really happy with them.
Here's the link:

silverfox 05-12-2008, 09:58 AM installed calsci xlarge and it is perfect for me,I am 6'1" with a 32" inseam. Function over style
toocanad 05-13-2008, 08:19 PM I got the powerbronze .A little larger than stock, cuts the chest blast nicely.
StonedGP 05-14-2008, 07:02 AM I got the GIVI yesterday. I tried it on the lowest setting for about 20 miles. Air hits me at the mid-shield level. Chest area is well covered. I'm gonna try moving it up to mid level today. So far I'm impressed by the quality of the unit. Thicker than stock, with nicely beveled edges. Clear optics.
myorangecamaro 05-14-2008, 03:44 PM I went with the vario because the givi seemed a bit large to keep the bike looking the way it does, i love the look of the vario too. The givi defently has best protection from what i hear, but the vario works 11 times better than stock, and is good enough for me!. im about 6 foot and the wind hits about 3/4 the way up my helmet, witch is defenetly tolerable
cr0w3 05-16-2008, 08:50 AM I have a Vario type that works brilliant. I'm 5/ 10 height. At 185 KM/h i can leave my visor up and don't shed a tear at all... This screen is adjustable too which I have at full wind deflection. Love it and it looks as good as it works. Tinted looks the best on my green machine..
Nexxus 05-16-2008, 12:36 PM I looked at windscreens yesterday and I don't know which one to get. The vario is prolly the best for me however I think it's ugly so I won't be getting it. Also I sure would hate to buy one and it not deflect the air above my head and I would be stuck.
The kawasaki tall windscreen is only 2 inches taller than stock, right now with stock at it's highest setting I get hit about mid face shield with air and I don't think 2" would do the trick. Any thoughts?
I am 6'2" 190# with a 34" inseam, does anyone have an aftermarket windscreen that is around my height for comparison?
pictor 05-16-2008, 02:15 PM Hi, new poster.
I am really interested in windscreen options. I am 6'6", and I am getting wind from mid-chest up, and it's kind of sucking. I could get the givi and the vario, but if it still means full wind blast (or more, with redirected wind blast) in the face, there seems to be not much point.
StonedGP 05-16-2008, 07:27 PM I am 6'0 tall and get hit just barely on the top of the helmet with the GIVI on the mid setting. Gonna try it all the way up tomorrow. I'll post findings.
BTW..GIVI screen is very high quality, with clear optics. So far i like it.
stlee29 07-30-2010, 10:22 AM Here's some screens for the V from Bullster.

Stazjemo 07-31-2010, 02:34 AM I bought the Givi after seeing this pic-

stlee29 07-31-2010, 10:01 AM Had used Puig screen on my V before.
Sold it to my brother who had sold his V.
It's a good stylish wind screen.

drumdaddy 07-31-2010, 12:16 PM Tried the Kawasaki Taller windscreen and found that to be a waste of money for me. (happy to sell it for $75 + shipping) I am 6'00" with a 32" inseam so I was getting wind blast in the chest. Picked up the Givi and have been happy with that. Still a little noise, but the wind is off my chest and neck.
studdg 07-31-2010, 12:45 PM Interesting, no comments on the Mike's Touring or GT screens.
toocanad 07-31-2010, 02:06 PM I am 6' even. Bought the Givi a year ago. It was a significant improvement over stock and the Powerbronze flip.
Recently I drilled a couple of extra holes in the Givi to raise it up another inch and a half. Wind blast was at the neck now it feels like mid shield on the helmet. Quieter and not as much banging around.
jarhead 07-31-2010, 03:29 PM I put a 20" Jurock 7 on and it was better but not good enough. I then raised it by adding 2 one inch by 1 half inch aluminum angle to the stock shield bracket. This allowed me to move the shield up 2 holes higher than stock allowed. It was better but still too much buffetng. I then added rubber grommets to the bottom screws ( between windshield and angle ) to angle windshield back. Near perfect for me at 5'11'', 30'' inseam. My ears can't handle the noise and I'll do whatever it takes to protect what's left of my hearing.
