In Formula 1 qualifications Saturday morning at Hungaroring, a flyaway 800 gr (1.76 lb) rear suspension spring that fell off Barichello's Brawn GP hit Ferrari's Felipe Massa on his helmet and shield while travelling at about 170 mph. He passed out still on the throttle while somehow also applying brakes generating about 1G deceleration, straight through the chicane then hit a tire barrier at near 80 mph. His skull was fractured above left eye and at base of skull, with a cut and concussion... He's now in an induced coma after some surgery, and in life-threatening but stable condition.
