: First impression on the new V

I just picked up the new V yesterday evening. As I mentioned on my
last post I was not feeling well so I have only ridden it for about 20
miles. I had a tough night last night(chills &fever) but I feeling better
this morning will try to ride some later today. ANYWAY.
First Impression- here goes.
The bike has plenty of power surely enough for me.
I can understand why people would and do ride this bike in the
twisties as they call it. It responds to weight shifting well.
I immediately noticed that I had to be busy in the first 4 gears
shifting pretty rapidly, I dont consider this a bad thing though.
I like it because it feels like you are riding a motorcycle instead
of a big battle ship with the weight at 400lbs it feels good.
I really have to cocentrate to keep the rpms below 4000 its
a spunky bike. The wind thing I,ll determine later. I was wearing a
full face helment. Seems to have a good fit and feel about it so
far. And thats about it for now.
I want to get a bike cover for it and there is a slew of them
out there, does any one know where I can find a cover with the
brand name on it excluding the dealer. I also want to get a
saddle bag set up that will not break my pocket book at first glance
it looks like the Givi"s are the way I would like to go if the $$ permits.

Sorry you were feeling punk when you picked up your new bike... that sucks!

If I may, I'd like to suggest that you re-think the deal about the cover for the bike. I work in LE, and it is pretty generally felt among officers that the LESS information a casual observer can get walking around your bike, the BETTER. Why advertise what is lurking there under the cover? For that reason, if I get a cover, it will be "Plain Jane" with no markings. JMHO and YMMV of course.

Ride ON!

+1 on the plain cover... that's what I've heard, so I bought a plain one.

What cover did u get mrb42? I can never decide which one to get as far as the size goes. A cover for a crotch rocket doesn't seem right considering the wider handle bars and also my Cortech soft bags.

It's a Dowco cover... it's suppose to arrive wia UPS tonight so I can post how it fits tomorrow... I guestimated the size, hopefully I guessed right.

What size? Post your impressions and the exact part # later, if you would.

I will probably get two covers, one for home and one for work.
I ordered a kawasaki cover for home that I will not keep on the bike.
It does not have versys on it just kawasaki. I was at the dealership
taking a helment back and swapped for the cover, he called about it
and they meaning kawasaki people said the cover for the zr1000 would work
just fine (the bike numbers maybe a little off) anyway its black and
should be in within a week.
The cover that I keep on the bike I have not decided yet but its
not going to be anything special just good and water proof I hope.

OK, the Dowco Medium sized cover fits like a glove. Couldn't have asked for a better fit actually... and it's a really nice cover, feels well made.
