just wasnt happy with the stock bars..too low and too much pullback..was getting a nasty muscle spasm in my right side of my neck after awhile...so i took a couple of old handlebars i had laying around and cut them up to make a set that suited me perfect....added some slugs for strength, and a crossbar..welded them up and powdercoated them....they have 6 inches of rise, very little pullback, only needed to reroute clutch cable, and are 32 inches wide..now my mirrors sit far enough out that i no longer have shoulder sighting, so no meed for mirror extenders, very comfortable and cheap to make...:feedback:

Looks great, do the slugs help dampen the vibrations at all?

Nice custom work. Does that crossbar interfere with reading the instruments? Every bike I've owned I had to add bar risers and/or change the bars to suit me, but the Versy is perfect right out of the box.

Each to his own but, for me, I can't see changing the bars to get an even more upright riding position. I finally saw another Versys in my town last week and it surprised me to see another guy riding the bike in real life. Because of the bike's geometry, we kinda sit on top of the bike with our upper bodies exposed to the elements. It's no wonder we're always fooling around with windshields.

My neighbour has an FZ1 he keeps trying to sell me. I don't like it enough to make the switch but, in my next bike, I'll be looking for something with a more streamlined riding position. There isn't the perfect motorcycle, however, and I will always find something to complain about no matter what bike I own.

the slugs dampen the vibration quit well...these old chrome bars i used had a thicker inside diameter than the stock V bars...( came from a 75 kz 400) the crossbar sits above the instruments...i always preferred a more upright riding position but made the change to relieve kneck tension

no.. i tend to modify every bike i ever had..currently building my own luggage rack..the idea of spending $200.00 for one is a little too high
