My wife and I are considering buying a pair of Versi (What is the plural of Versys?). We actually probably wont buy for two years. We're both the type who tend to over research vehicle purchases.
I've been riding for 20 years and my wife has been riding for three weeks. I have a 2002 Yamaha FZ1 and my wife has a 2008 Ninja 250. Originally I was thinking about getting a Honda ST1300 or a Yamaha FJR1300. I got a chance to test ride both of them last weekend. The Honda was comfy, but heavy and boring. The FJR1300 was a great bike, but the handlebar vibration was too much for me.
Although my wife's 250 is a little cramped for me, I do enjoy to borrow it from time to time. Riding her light weight bike got me thinking. I really don't need 140 horsepower to have fun. For less than the price of a nice used FJR or ST1300, I could get a new Versys. I'm trying to keep my eye open for a used Versys at a dealer that I can test ride.
My wife loves her 250, but does find the seating position uncomfortable for long rides. She is thinking she wants to improve her skills for a couple of seasons on her little bike and then move up to the Versys.
If the '09 Versys is available in a color I really like, I might breakdown and get one next spring and then my wife will get hers the next year.
Anyways, I just thought I'd say hi as I intend to spend lots of time lurking around here!
