Hey guys, need your advice. I am looking for a pair of overpants for commuting to work. I want mesh, since these are to be worn over my work pants and with full length zippers or velcro for easy removal.
After searching, there seems to be mesh pants, but not with the full length opening, or full length opening, but not mesh. Also, knee and hip pads are desired.
Let me know if you have seen such an animal and where.
Thanks for the information

I love mine...wore them with the liner during the winter and flow air nicely on 90+ days.

I wear the Olympia riding suit. It's comfortable, well armored, and it has full length zippers in the pants that make it easy to wear over work clothes. It has very good venting, plus removable insulated liners for cooler weather.
(You asked about pants, but most of this info covers the full suit - matching tops and bottoms are important.)
This the model of jacket that I wear - the pants are a matching set with a zipper that attaches them to the jacket to keep the jacket from riding up in a drop:

The photo is from the Olympia website.
The pads can be adjusted to a degree to make them suit an individual rider.
There are a ton of options out there and most of them are pretty good. If you go with a two piece suit, be sure that you're able to zip them together so that the jacket won't ride up in a crash, exposing your back to damage. That's one reason that it usually isn't good to mix different brands of suits - the pants and jackets might not be compatible.
Think about the color as well - I prefer black, but it's hot as hell in the summer and may not be as visible as more reflective colors. How visible do you want to be? Think too, about the length of the jacket. I have the regular length jacket, but the Bushwhacker model offers more protection, especially in cooler or wetter conditions.

Other manufacturers offer pretty much the same options. Some offer one-piece suits. Leather is an option, but I compromise with the textile suits, preferring the comfort of textile over the better protection of leather.
If you have a good shop around with a lot of choices, try on every suit possible to find something that suits you. Pay particular attention to how well the protective pads match your body when you're actually on a bike. Try on the suit, climb on a bike in the shop and see how it feels. Get off of the bike and check out how well the pads cover your joints when you kneel or bend your arms and legs. Open both the jacket and pants to see how much room you have for adjusting the pads and how easily it can be done. I'm tall and find that the knee pads tend to ride up above my knees when I kneel - that's similar to the position that I might find myself in if I crash. I've adjusted them for better placement, but I'm still not sure that they would be in place in a crash.
Read the tags to see what sort of washing instructions they have - you want something that washes and dries easily.
Good luck! Choosing your armor is every bit as important as your choice of bike. I don't recommend any particular manufacturer - to me, finding a suit that matches your individual needs is of paramount importance.

They ran a sale a few weeks ago for $109. It looks like they are back to $129.
I second the Olympia Bushwacker jacket choice. I have the black one (only thing in stock the day I brought home the V). I would get it in hi-vis now although I do look like Darth Vader :thumb: with my black jacket/pants/helmet

I use a pair of Tour Master tracker mesh pants. They do not zip down all the way but are roomy enough for use over my dress pants or jeans. Never had to use the liner. They keep me dry even without them. When touring in summer I wear them over my bicicle shorts. It keep me cool even @ 90+ weather. They are $107 at motogearoutlet.com

Thanks guys. I looked at the Olympia Airglide and like them, but they are not sold in Montreal ad I would like to try them on before purchasing. But the are sold in Ottawa, well I guess I will have to take a day ride over there to try them...Why by local when you can ride a day to get it!!!
