FROM THE TEKNIC WEBSITE:

Size Charts For Men's Jackets

Jacket Size Chest Waist Sleeve Length
S 42" 32" 26"
M 44" 34" 26.5"
L 46" 36" 27"
XL 50" 40" 27.5"
XXL 52" 42" 28"
XXXL 54" 44" 28.5"

----

Now then, I have always worn a size 42R jacket in "normal" clothes. Having recently lost a few pounds, my chest measures 40" relaxed and 42" flexed. This makes me a "Small". I'm 6' and 185 lbs. My shirt size just went from an XL to an L. My pants size is a 34. Sleeve length is 35" (if measured properly, spine to shoulder 10" + shoulder to sleeve 25")

So to summarize:

Chest 42 (S)
Waist 34 (M)
Sleeve 35 (off the chart) or 25 (S)

So am I really shopping for a jacket in Small? :dgi:

Don't know if this pertains, but make sure you are looking at US sizes and not Euro. I'm 6 foot, 175, and I typically wear a medium (snug) or large (over clothes) in most jackets. One other observation, I used to have a pair of Teknic gloves and I swear that they were medium, even though I wear L to XL in most other brands. FWIW.

Also, order from a good dealer, I've had great service from Motorcycle superstore, they typically ship for free and if you need to return it (which I have had to do) they have a flat rate prepaid system that you only end up paying six bucks for. No hassles.

Zensins, take a look at several of the on-line vendors to see if there are any customer reviews for Tecknic jackets. Sometimes you can see where a particular item or brand seems to run larger or smaller according to several purchasers. I'm the same size range as you and my jackets (Fieldsheer and Tourmaster) are size L/44. It just doesn't seem likely that a 6' tall man would wear a small jacket......

Find a motorcycle with a good slection of clothes that is local. Try their stuff on and see how it fits. Then by it online. It's a great way to save some grief.

You have to try them on, it all depends on the manufacture. I have three different Jacket, all different make, and they are all different sizes. If I find a good deal online I try to find the same one at a local shop and try it one first. Even if its a different model the same make should have the same sizing.

You gotta try clothing on. Don't trust sizing charts. Go to a few dealers, try some stuff on and then BUY IT FROM THE DEALER. I hate it when people go to the dealer, try stuff on and then order it on-line to save a few lousy bucks. If everybody did that the dealer would have to shut down his showroom. He's entitled to make a few extra bucks because it costs him money to carry inventory, etc. I don't know what you do for a living but if your employer did everything for free you wouldn't have a job. If you're really cheap, at least give the dealer the opportunity to match an on-line price. Unless you're buying something really special that your dealer doesn't stock, buy locally. Tecknics gear is really common, however, so you should be able to find a decent price from a showroom.

Okay, my rant is done.

Hmm well Im not cheap just smart. I baught a Scorpion leather Jacket online for $300.00 at all the Dealers in my area they were $400.00 and none would budg on the price nor even give a discount. I alway check my local shops before I buy online. I also baught my V from the shop just down the street. So if you want to call me cheap fine, Ill just call myself smart. If you have money to just throw away thats your business. Many of us in this economy just feel lucky to be able to buy the stuff for our versys habit, and to even have a job no less. But dont judge just because a person wants to get the most bang for the buckn and still have some change left over to buy more stuff.

Guys,

I tend to agree with both of you!

IF you're going to use a dealer's services, trying on his stock, you should try to give him your business. To me it's worth up to 20% or so to be sure I'm getting exactly what I want (need) and to walk out of the store with the merchandise.

IF you're willing to take a chance on a product's fit, or finish, and to wait for delivery buy it on-line.

I've done both, and I've been happy with each decision.

The dealer made enough money on selling me my bike. If they did not, they should find another line of work. The dealer will not shut down the showroom because no one is buying clothes. They just won't sell clothes. If I could buy my bike online and save some money I would. It's basic economics, in the mart of competitive commerce, buy stuff with the least amount money out of pocket as possible. It's called shopping.

That's my rant
