I just installed last weekend. The install was a real pain in the butt, the instructions stunk but I got through it. It is much louder than I thought it would be but I love it. It's even more of a joy to ride now. I didn't get the PCIII so it hiccups sometimes. I guess that will be my next purchase. The youtube clips don't do it justice, its loud. I like to be heard though, makes me feel safer.

You have to drop the rear tire I think and that takes me out of the game right there.

you don't have to take off the rear tire, that's bull. you can loosen the bolts at the header and the header pipes drop giving room to pull the stock muffler off. I have bascially taken a bike apart and put it back together before and putting this two bros muffler on was about the most frustrating thing I have ever done.

Another solution to getting the stock exhaust off...
My buddy and I got the stock exhaust off by simply putting down the kickstand, having him pull the bike up on the stand and the front tire, that allowed us to get the stock muffler off...just barely, but it comes. I can't imagine any of the aftermarket pipes needing quite as much room to get back on...could be wrong. I have decided to have a local exhaust shop make an exhaust for me. the motorcycle guy there said he would need my bike for half a day or so, to mock it up, and he will put something together. It will be made about the way I had in mind, and he will get it done, and give the finished product to me. Basically it will be a length of baffled pipe, about 14 inches, straight from the headers, with a down turned tip on the end. I will paint it with some high temp paint, and we'll see what happens. The pipe seems to weigh about 5 lbs, very rough guesstamite! This is fairly close to the Two Bros 3lbs 2oz, but will only cost me between $75 and $100, compared to the nearly $400 the T.B. silencer would cost me. Should have it in about a week or two. when I get it done, I will report back. How it sounds, actual weight, and some pics. The stock muffler as weighed by my friend, is about 13lbs. More to come!!!
Fukken cheers,
Erik!!!

I took the least expensive route & went with the Aluminum pipe. I should have done a little more price comparison up here in Canada as i ordered mine right From Two Bros For $399 Plus Shipping And i could have purchased it from www.bluestreakracing.ca for $359 & free Shipping !!! I ordered from www.bluestreakracing.ca I should receive it next week. Some say it's easy to install others say it's a pain, let's hope it's easy! :)
I paid 377$ including taxes and free shipping to montreal. At a store near home they asked 500$...and proposed a "deal" at 400$ to find out I wouldnt have it before july, that's when I found bluestreakracing and there great prices. Now Im just worried it might be a bit too loud. I want to be heard in the traffic, but I don't want to end up with headaches!

So far no, but it has crossed my mind that i might. i try not to be too loud when im residential areas, on the highway i could care less.

I cant even remember what the bike sounded like before the two bros. but i wouldnt have it any other way. People notice me more now which makes me feel better about my saftey.

I live right across the river from NYC. Lived in the bronx for two years. Drop me a line if you wouldnt mind another bike to tag along.

Well as far as leaving your bikes in NJ not a bad idea if your gona be walking around doing the tourist thing. You could ride into the city and park in a garage but that might be expensive and i would sugest tiping well.

I have the 2Bros Carbon can. You don't have to drop the tire or loosen the headers....have a second person squat on the bike (making the back tire further from the frame) and the oem muffler will slide right off.

Lovin this bike, I am.

Ok i tried installing it this afternoon. Removing the stock exhaust wasnt too bad after having removed all the panels on the side, I was on the back of the bike (to stretch out the back wheel to create sufficient space to remove the pipe) while pulling on the exhaust under...while sweating and swearing...but managed to remove it...putting the other one back on just seemed impossible. I called a motorcycle shop and they towed my bike and will install it for 50$ towing included. Should have brought it to the garage to start with. Unless your an aviation engineer, I recommend having it installed by pros. I changed mufflers on dirt bikes before...but this has nothing to do with that...The pictures in the installation guide are...well, really not clear...

I went to see the bike at the shop....WOW, looks nice, sounds great! A bit on the loud side, specialy before the motor warms and calms down to 1000RPM. But in the city while waiting at a red light it shouldnt piss people off...and go slowly on the trottle to avoid too much noise in residential areas...The mecanic told be there might be a baffle for it, if I find it too loud. Ill have to ride it a bit to get an idea...but it sounds pretty sweet to my ears :)

No hicups, just a small little back fire once in a while but that was happening with the stock also.

thecreeper77
06-21-2008, 11:08 AM
sometimes i do sometimes i dont depends on my mood and how quick i need to stop.

is it too loud, well to be honest ive heard harleys and choopers that are just as loud or louder.

demem01
06-21-2008, 07:10 PM
No ear plugs no - unless a helmet counts. I don't have the P1 noise suppressor and I'd be surprised if I were ever pulled over for noise. The optional plug lowers it 2-3 decibels is all. It's loud but I've sure heard louder bikes. I guess we'll see. I've had it 600 miles now and been pulled over even and not a word about it. The sound is safer, thumpy and full. Just great with our inline motors.

When mounting the 2Bros, remember to loosen the 4 flange bolts so that the supplied connecting "S" pipe coming out of the can twists freely. It'll twist 360' which makes sliding it over the existing exhaust headers possible. Position the can as you're twisting the S pipe onto the exhaust. Once it's all where you want it tighten everything up from the front working back; header connection, flange bolts, mounting to frame.

Once the oem exhaust is off you're home free.

Kawa007
06-22-2008, 05:54 PM
I have the P1 noise suppressor...but doupt it does anything, the tip is still wide open, don't see how it's supposed to do much. I'll call TBR tomorrow and see if they make other tips that might reduce noise more. I want the bike louder, but I don't want to piss off other drivers or get pulled over because of it, or having to always be super gentle on the throttle...If not Ill keep the pipe on the bike anyways...but I'd just be SUPER satisfied if I could cut down the noise by 10%...

thecreeper77
06-23-2008, 07:26 AM
ya know it maybe since we are sitting on the bike that it seems too loud. in all reality for someone standing on the street it may just get their attention for a few seconds.

Well after putting a few miles my bike with the two bro pipe im not really too concerned about the noise level of it anymore . I live on a busy street and have to listen to lots of staight pipe harleys on a daily basis so the Versys is pretty quiet in respects to that . Its a bit of an adjustment going from a the sound of a sewing machine to a thumper on steriods !!!! just my 2 cents worth .

I called TBR and they suggested replacing the P1 tip with a P4 (supposed to reduce by 5-6 db). Ill order it from http://www.bluestreakracing.ca for 32$+tx. Free shipping to canada. If I can keep that nice low growling, while being able to ride it normaly, Id be one happy biker! :)

I don't know if it's just in my head, but it seems to be easier to do wheelies...before I had to go full throttle to lift the front wheel, and now I can do it smoothly in 1st at 2/3 throttle and it's easier then before in 2nd gear too (with stock exhaust the front wheel only lifted in 2nd when I was VERY agressive on the throttle). Didnt get it on the highway yet so that my impressions for now :)

I would be very interested in the results, as I suspect many others would be, too. I like the look of the Two Brothers exhaust but am not thrilled about the noise. The Remus can is the only one I've heard (online) thus far that I like.

I heard in a motorcycle shop that Muzzy and Hindle were the loudest. It's hard to evaluate on youtube. As it has been said, the TBR is louder then it seems in the videos but Ive read it's one of the most silent aftermarket slip-ons...stay posted for a short video with the P4 tip at the end of next week, if everything goes as planned :)

(edited because I included the Remus in the loudest by mistake, it's Muzzy and Hindle)

Has anyone noticed how when it warms up with the TBR the RPMs fluctuate? With the stock it was stable at 2000 and then lowered to 1000. Now it varies from 1800 to 2100 rpm while warming up...

thecreeper77
06-24-2008, 10:21 AM
cant say i remember anything before the stock but when warming up it does fluctuate a bit for the first 30 secs or so but then stays steady at about 2k then slows to about 1k inside of 2-3 minutes. i asume that is becase the oil has started to circulate.

Kawa007
06-24-2008, 10:41 AM
hummm...mine seems to fluctuate until it drops to 1k...On the stock I remember it was very smooth and steady...maybe it's just the effects of less air restriction with the TBR.

Cab drivers here in the city don't care about the sound. They still make the left lane of a street into a right turn lane. I chased a cabby down once for pulling that move on me. I almost went down. Kicked his door a few times and took off (only after he closed his window on me and said f you). Cabbies and sorry to say.. women on their phones are really dangerous to folks on bikes.

I have bascially taken a bike apart and put it back together before and putting this two bros muffler on was about the most frustrating thing I have ever done.

I put my Two Bros slip on on without removing the tire or header. All you need is an air compressor. Let about 60% of the air out of the tire and when you pull off the OEM exhaust you kinda bounce it into the tire. With tire deflated you press the muffler into the tire and you have just enuff clearance to get it off the header pipes.

08 Versys
07-04-2008, 12:00 PM
You don't even have to have the tire deflated to get the stock exhaust off. I dropped mine with the bike on the ground and tire full inflated. Unbolt it, slide it back, and maneuver it until you get it off. It took all of maybe 30 seconds to slip it off once it was unbolted. You don't have to loosen the header to engine bolts either.

Hey Kawa007 , how has that tbr p4 tip worked out for ya ???? is there much of a reduction in noise and is there any diff in the performance????

Has the P4 tip improve the noise level? Yes.
Is it still loud? humm...Yes.
I think it might have reduced noise by maybe 15-20% which is not bad...Now when my bike is idle it's louder then stock but if I was stopped next to a cop at a red light he would never think its not a stock pipe it's sounds low and soft. When you open the throttle it's another story the difference with the previous tip isnt so obvious. I tend to accelerate much less agressively in the city since I have the TBR, to avoid pissing people off. On the other hand, when I want to be sure cars know Im near them, it's perfect and it does make me feel safer. So I'd say I'm satisfied with the P4 tip and would recommend anyone buying the TBR to choose that tip instead of the P1 or P3...Does it affect performances? Havent noticed a difference from the the original TBR tip (1 or 3 I dont remember).

TBR told me on the phone that it wasnt supposed to affect performances and they seem to know what there talking about cause the bike still feels stronger then stock. I can raise the front wheel during acceleration in second gear much more easily then it used to with the stock exhaust if that's any indication of power gain...I whish I could have a volume on the exhaust to lower it when I want to be riding more agressively near civilization...but the TBR is the most silent aftermarket exhaust I have found. Until someone invents a muffler with a volume, TBR is the way to go :)

oxman
07-15-2008, 11:15 PM
Thanks for the info Bud , I think i may just order one up and give it a try as well .. I find myself being a little less aggressive as well on the throttle on the streets too. I do have to say that the tbr makes a huge diff in performance over the stock unit .....It Kicks Ass!!
