Bought my Versys at the end of December. Before leaving the shop I added several extras; I swapped the tyres to Bridgestone’s, crash mushrooms, paddock stands both front and back (for easy cleaning), Ermax rear hugger, Ermax belly pan ordered ABS on the bike and picked up the full touring kit and high screen as part of the final package delivered in Black the bike look's great. Worth the six week wait.
Rode the bike last week on a round trip of 500 miles and the only the only complaint was cold hands despite cold weather gloves. The bike performed really well on the motorway segments keeping up easily in the fast lane (forced there most of the time due to middle lane huggers) despite one or two icy roads no skids or slips the ABS is a great extra with good stopping qualities.
This is my first new bike in ten years my last new bike was a Honda Blackbird which has been on several euro safaris and given the performance of this round trip from Ireland to Manchester I am really looking forward to taking the Versys to Germany this year. I was a little concerned initially as my riders group ride KTM Adventurer, and Triumph Tiger(s) whilst these are great bikes I just didn’t want to give up the Blackbird (I still have it, and will keep it). However once on the Versys for a test ride I knew this was a fun bike to ride and completely different handling charactisics to the KTM and Triumph with a sports bike feel and handling I was sold.
I have just had delivered to day a set of engine bars and mirror extenders as the existing ones are just to narrow for my frame I will let you know how they go once fitted.
